Here's the latest buzz about ON Semiconductor
$ON (-2,77%) (NASDAQ: ON) regarding today’s Q2 2026 Earnings Release (August 3, 2026, after U.S. market close):

🚀 Wall Street Benchmarks & Expectations

With the semiconductor cycle having bottomed out, Wall Street is looking ahead to the second quarter of 2026 for the power semiconductor and sensor specialist:

Revenue Forecast (Consensus): approx. $1.59 billion (+8% YoY). Management’s guidance range is $1.535 billion to $1.635 billion.

Adjusted earnings per share (Adj. EPS): Expected at $0.72 (+36% YoY compared to $0.53 in the same quarter of the previous year).

Gross margin (guidance): Targeted within a range of 38.0% to 40.0% (non-GAAP).

🔮 Automotive Bottoming Out vs. AI Data Center Boost

Automotive & SiC (silicon carbide): Inventory adjustments at automakers are winding down. Sales of SiC power solutions for electric vehicles (EVs) and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) are regaining momentum.

AI data centers as a growth driver: A key catalyst is the power supply for AI servers. Management has announced that revenue in the AI data center segment is expected to double in calendar year 2026.

Portfolio streamlining (“Fab Right Strategy”): Onsemi is strategically divesting low-margin, non-core businesses (~$300 million in revenue exits for the full year), which slightly dampens total revenue but improves gross margins.

🤖 The Focus: Q3 Outlook & Synaptics Deal

New growth driver: In addition to the quarterly figures themselves, investors are looking for details on the planned acquisition of Synapticsto broaden Onsemi’s presence in the areas of Physical AI, edge computing, and sensor technology.

Q3 2026 Outlook: The market expects the recovery to continue in the third quarter, with a consensus EPS of around $0.84.

⚡ 💡 Jack’s take

Onsemi has left the cyclical trough behind and is shifting from a defensive to an offensive stance! The key lies in its dual drivers: On the one hand, the automotive sector is once again delivering stable cash flows following the inventory adjustment; on the other hand, the business with high-performance power supplies for AI servers is scaling massively. If CEO Hassane El-Khoury follows through on his Q3 outlook, the stock will remain one of the most exciting turnaround and AI-driven growth stocks in the chip industry!

Infineon $IFX (+1,34%) is the global market leader in power semiconductors, i.e. the chips that are essential for powering data factories. Business is going better than ever before - but this is probably just the beginning. "The demand for power semiconductors for AI data centers is increasing massively," Infineon top manager Richard Kuncic told Handelsblatt.

The high investments are a blessing for Infineon in two respects.

Firstly, the company is benefiting from the sheer number of new server farms. In recent weeks, OpenAI has signed contracts worth billions with Oracle, Nvidia and AMD. "There is huge demand," said founder Sam Altman last week, but "we are so constrained by computing power."

Other companies are also investing unprecedented sums in data centers. Analysts at Jefferies speak of more than 300 major projects in the United States alone. The four largest hyperscalers, i.e. providers of computing power, would spend 90 billion dollars on new facilities every quarter.

Secondly, more and more power semiconductors are required to supply computers with energy. According to Kuncic, a server cabinet today contains such chips worth between 12,000 and 14,000 euros. This covers the energy requirements of 128 graphics processors, so-called GPUs. GPUs are supplied by companies such as NVIDIA $NVDA (-1,47%) and AMD $AMD (+1,5%) They are the core of AI computers.

According to Kuncic, engineers will accommodate 576 GPUs in the next generation of server racks. This will increase the value of the power semiconductors to more than 100,000 euros.

But that's not all. Kuncic: "More and more fields of application are emerging for AI. This is also increasing the demand for power semiconductors." Until now, companies such as OpenAI have mainly used the computers to train AI models at great expense. In the future, however, AI will be used much more frequently.

Europe's largest semiconductor manufacturer promised its investors sales of AI power semiconductors of 600 million euros for the past financial year, which ended on September 30. At the beginning of August, CEO Jochen Hanebeck said that this figure is set to rise to one billion euros in the new financial year.

It is possible that the CEO will increase this forecast in mid-November when he presents the latest results and ventures an outlook for the new financial year.

Infineon supplies the entire value chain with its power semiconductors, from the producers of transformers to computer manufacturers such as $DELL (-3,07%) Dell , $DELTA (-5,05%) Delta and $HPE (-3,52%) HP, to operators such as $AMZN (+0,5%) Amazon and $GOOGL (-9,94%) Google.

Together with Nvidia, the world's most valuable corporation, the Munich-based company is developing the next generation of power supply systems for AI data centers. The company made the announcement this spring.

With a market share of just under 18 percent, Infineon is the world's top-selling supplier of power semiconductors. The number two, US competitor Onsemi $ON (-2,77%)has around nine percent. Infineon is far ahead of its competitors in terms of technology and production, according to Deutsche Bank analyst Johannes Schaller last week.

Good morning dear Getquin community 👋

Today I would like to introduce you to The Humanoid 66 and what it's all about. The market for humanoid robotics is just taking off and is facing one of the biggest upheavals since the advent of the automobile. Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs expect the market to be worth between 38 billion and three trillion US dollars by 2035. By 2050, over 60 million humanoid robots could be in use in the USA alone.

With The Humanoid 66, Morgan Stanley has compiled a list of 66 companies that are likely to benefit directly or indirectly from this development. These include not only the manufacturers themselves, but also suppliers and technology groups that provide the necessary infrastructure, from semiconductor and battery producers to sensor technology and software through to platform operators for artificial intelligence.

The leading players include $TSLA (-1,74%) Tesla with Optimus, Figure AI with Figure 02, Agility Robotics with Digit, Boston Dynamics with Atlas and Unitree with H1 and G1. Tesla is already planning to use more than a thousand Optimus robots in its own factories by 2024. The goal is clear: to make humanoid machines suitable for mass production at prices between 20,000 and 30,000 US dollars. Figure AI works closely with $MSFT (+5,61%) Microsoft, OpenAI and $BMW (+0,4%) BMW and was able to raise over 675 million US dollars in a financing round.

Technological progress is the key driver of this development. Multimodal generative AI enables humanoid robots to understand speech, communicate with humans and perform tasks autonomously. Advances in actuator technology, LiDAR systems, force sensors and battery technology are making the machines more efficient and more human-like. The energy density of modern lithium-ion cells is increasing by around 20 percent every two years, while the cost per kilowatt hour is expected to fall to 80 US dollars by 2030.

At the same time, wage costs for human labor are rising significantly. In the USA, they currently stand at just under 40 US dollars per hour, while in China they are around 6.50 US dollars and in India 4.45 US dollars. Studies show that automation can reduce labor costs in industrialized countries such as Germany, Japan and the USA by up to a third by 2025. Sectors such as agriculture, construction, care, logistics and manufacturing, where millions of jobs remain unfilled today, will be particularly affected.

The Humanoid 66 shows that this change goes far beyond individual companies. A new industrial ecosystem is emerging that links hardware, software, energy and data. Price reduction, scalability and integration into existing value chains will determine who will be among the winners.

Takeaway: Humanoid robotics is no longer a vision of the future, but the beginning of a structural reorganization of the global economy. Those who invest early in key areas such as AI chips, batteries, sensor technology and automation are positioning themselves in a sector that is likely to have a similarly profound impact as the invention of the car. The crucial question is just how far society is prepared to accept and integrate this new form of workforce.
