Third quarter 2024 and outlook 2024

• In the third quarter of 2024, the company generated consolidated sales of 156.6 million euros (Q3 2023: 151.5 million euros), an increase of 3.4% compared to the previous year and plus 10.3% compared to the second quarter of 2024. EBIT amounted to 39.9 million euros (Q3 2023: 41.6 million euros). This corresponds to an EBIT margin of 25.5% of sales (Q3 2023: 27.5%). Investments in property, plant and equipment and intangible assets less capitalized development costs decreased as planned in the third quarter of 2024 to EUR 5.9 million or 3.8% of sales (Q3 2023: EUR 34.0 million). Adjusted free cash flow amounted to 45.5 million euros (Q3 2023: 33.9 million euros).
• For fiscal year 2024, Elmos expects sales in the lower range of the unchanged sales forecast of 605 million euros ± 25 million euros. The operating EBIT margin (excluding special items) is still expected to be 25% ± 2 percentage points of sales. The company also anticipates investments in property, plant and equipment and intangible assets less capitalized development costs of around 12% ± 2 percentage points of revenue. For the full year 2024, Elmos now expects a positive adjusted free cash flow including effects from the completion of the sale of the Elmos wafer production to Littelfuse Inc. The forecast is based on an exchange rate of 1.10 euro/US dollar.

I bought Elmos at about 20 € in 2020 but I have increased my position again. Elmos is about 20% away from their all-time high. They have presented wonderful figures and are increasing the dividend by 25%. I see there still an enormous potential upwards.

Fed - As expected, the Federal Reserve decided to reduce its bond purchases. Instead of the previous $120 billion per month, only $105 billion will be invested in the purchase of government bonds and mortgage-backed securities starting in mid-November. Further cuts are planned from December.

Now all eyes are on possible interest rate hikes, but the ECB considers an increase in the key interest rate next year unlikely. Similarly, Deutsche Bank does not expect interest rates in the USA to be adjusted before December 2022.

Roche ($RHO5 (+0.88%)) / Novartis ($NOT (+0.88%)) - In order to achieve full strategic independence, pharmaceutical giant Roche has repurchased from a competitor Novartis its Roche shares for 19 billion Swiss francs. It was agreed to buy back 53.3 million shares at a price of 356.9341 Swiss francs. Christoph Franz said that he is convinced that this planned transaction is in the best interest of Roche and its shareholders from a strategic and economic point of view.

Commonwealth Bank ($CWW (+1.11%)) - Australia's largest bank stated over the past day that they are working on making Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies tradable for their customers in the coming weeks. Furthermore, they elaborated that they also want to offer it to their customers to store the cryptocurrencies for them. Initially, only Bitcoin ($BTC-EUR (+0.03%)), Bitcoin Cash ($BCH-EUR (+0.69%)), Ethereum ($ETH-USD (-1.2%)) and Litecoin ($LTC-EUR (-0.07%)) will be available.
