The book-to-bill ratio of $MEDP (-3,63 %) was significantly below expectations: 0.88 vs 0.98

Management did not mention whether this was due to a lower order intake or canceled contracts.

At the same time, guidance was raised to 9-13% sales growth.

As the book-to-bill ratio reflects the medium-term order situation, the stock market reacted much more strongly to this than to the increased guidance for 2026.

Personal classification: the book to bill is still solid, but the trend is not positive! You should keep an eye on the next few quarters. In times of economic weakness, however, it is legitimate for bookings to be processed somewhat faster than new ones come in. We are currently not in an investment-friendly environment in the USA

The CEO has been selling shares heavily in recent days.

USD 18 million in December alone.

However, as he holds more than 10% of the company, the scale is still justifiable in relative terms!

Everyone perceives risks individually. Everyone tries to independently assess the risk of a share or the current economic situation on the stock market.

In portfolio theory, risk is primarily measured using the standard deviation. In simple terms, this is the extent to which a share price moves. If this movement is correlated with the "market", this results in a beta. If this is < 1 bedeutet das, dass der Kurs einer Aktie geringer als der Markt schwankt. > 1, the result is a disproportionate fluctuation. The "market" is an elastic term. For example, an MSCI World, S&P 500 or the DAX can be used as a reference. The result is different betas depending on the index. However, I do not want to go into this topic any further at this point.

Why beta is not relevant for me

• Price fluctuations are not a problem in my current life situation (24 years old; student).
• Every share that grows faster than the market has a beta > 1. As my portfolio is set to grow, a high beta is desirable.

Diversification as a risk?

I often see portfolios with 30+ companies on Getquin. The aim behind this is to minimize risk. In my view, however, what gets lost in the process is the overview - or leisure time, because every share in the portfolio should be tracked and scrutinized.

I have therefore opted for a clearly structured portfolio. There are currently 11 companies (but the number is not set in stone). There are two reasons for this:

I want to know and follow each company in my portfolio well

The impact of a price increase should be significant

My strategy for less drawdown despite fewer shares

• Cover as many sectors as possible
• Consider regional sales distribution
• Know a company as well as possible

Why these companies?

• Heidelberg Materials $HEI (-0,94 %). Local monopolies with strong pricing power
• Medpace$MEDP (-3,63 %). Enabler of small research/pharma teams. Enables research outside of Big Pharma
• Hims and Hers$HIMS (-4,33 %). Generics seller with "cool brand". Enables better margins in the long term.
• MercadoLibre $MELI (-1,4 %). The Amazon and bank of Latin America. To benefit from the rise of emerging markets.
• Meta Platforms$META (-0,98 %). Monopoly in communication/social media.
• Prada$1913 (+2,79 %). One of the few luxury companies that is constantly growing (and not highly valued). More on this in my last post.
• BATS$BATS (+0,79 %). Non-cyclical business model. Bought at the time due to significant undervaluation. Now I hold the share to stabilize the portfolio somewhat.
• Sanlorenzo$SL (-1,43 %). Yacht manufacturer and thus part of the luxury sector, which I find attractive due to its high margin and low cyclicality.
• Solaria $SLR (-5,11 %). My conservative bet on rising energy demand through AI.
• Metaplanet $3350 (-6,7 %). Bitcoin gamble with play money.

My criteria for buying shares

Basically, I hardly set myself any limits when investing. I like to invest in shares that are rather unpopular at the time of purchase. The sector doesn't matter, although I prefer high-margin business models.

I like to buy cheap - high P/E ratios put me off (even if FOMO sometimes kicks in). I don't feel comfortable with it because of the potential drop.

Wow. Thank you for reading this!

Now that you know my strategy, I would really appreciate some stock tips tips, that could fit my strategy.

By the way, can you see the portfolio? Because it's my own post I can't check it👀

Hello my dears,

I would like to increase my Japan share a little. I have picked out a few companies. Among them is M3, which is somewhat comparable to the US stock $MEDP (-3,63 %) Medpace. But it has a much broader base.

M3 has double-digit earnings growth for the next few years. And a rising dividend yield.

Feel free to share your opinion in the comments.

@BamBamInvest and everyone else please.

Japanese digital health specialist M3 posted a 31% increase in profits despite a weak overall market and benefited from analyst upgrades and share buybacks.

While the Japanese stock market suffered significant losses last week, one share showed astonishing strength: M3. The digital health specialist not only defied the downward trend, but also made strong gains - a performance that raises questions about the real reasons behind this resilience.

Solid figures boost share price

The company's latest quarterly figures are primarily responsible for the positive development. M3 reported an impressive 31% increase in profit in the first half of the year. These robust operating results underline the profitability of the business model in the healthcare sector and provided the decisive impetus for the share price rally.

Analysts are impressed

The positive fundamental development did not go unnoticed by analysts. The investment bank Jefferies reacted at the end of October by raising its price target from 1,900 to 2,100 yen. Although it maintained its "hold" rating, the significant upward target correction signaled the increased expectations of the digital health experts.

Share buyback boosts confidence

Another important signal for investors is the continued share buyback program. Announced back in May 2025, it enables the company to acquire up to 20 million of its own shares. Such a program typically indicates the management's confidence in its own future viability - and the conviction that the share is currently undervalued.

A lighthouse in stormy seas

Particularly noteworthy: M3's strength was evident during a phase of general market uncertainty. Concerns about the US Federal Reserve's interest rate policy and contradictory economic data weighed on the risk appetite of investors worldwide. The fact that M3 not only held its own in this environment, but also made strong gains, underlines the company's special positioning.

Can the digital health pioneer continue on its special path while the rest of the market struggles with the adverse conditions? The latest performance speaks for itself.

A turnaround seems to have been achieved here within 2 quarters.

We need to talk about the healthcare sector today. After 2024 had already disappointed many companies in the sector due to the "corona effect" and was labeled a "transition year", I had actually called for a major recovery in 2025. What happened instead is of course clear: a complete bleed-out of the industry.

In fact, the situation in the healthcare sector is so bad that no returns at all have been achieved across the board in the last three years, and that is bad.

I had actually chosen the healthcare sector as a second pillar in my portfolio alongside my tech investments, as I have a great passion for the topic of healthcare and also like to spend a lot of time on it. Actually, I also had the impression that the healthcare sector is rather defensive as the demand for healthcare services is continuously increasing when there is an increasing number of sicker people in the world. I have therefore created a diversified portfolio of companies that have a predominance in the treatment of a specific disease: Heart defects, mucoviscidosis, diabetes - you can probably already guess where this is going.

At the moment I have several companies in my portfolio whose performance really resembles a horror movie: $ILM1 (-0,84 %) , $AFX (+0,95 %) , $UNH (-1,54 %) , $NOVO B (+2,56 %)

Plus some resurrected zombies like $TMO (-2,5 %) , $ABBV (+0,23 %) , $EW (-2,44 %) , $MEDP (-3,63 %) whose performance could be reactivated through life-sustaining measures.

Only $SYK (+6,94 %) and $VRTX (+1,64 %) are developing in line with expectations overall.

In summary, 40% pain, 40% okay and only 20% yes

However, the poor performance is not at all related to the selection of companies. Other giants such as $MRK (+1,66 %) and even the most solid healthcare company in the world $JNJ (-0,94 %) are not performing satisfactorily either. Some people here in the comments always act as if Novo Nordisk and UNH were the worst companies in the world and everything was foreseeable - but that's just not the case. In fact, they are only falling so sharply and getting so much media coverage because they have always been regarded as the absolute gems in contrast to solala companies like $PFE (+1,26 %) it really wasn't an everyday occurrence for them to halve overnight.

Overall, the healthcare sector, which has been battered for years, is now also considered undervalued. So we can still hope for a recovery. Nevertheless, it is slowly becoming a huge problem for me if I put 1/4 of my capital into assets that are outperforming the savings book and not compensating for inflation. The opportunity costs in particular are astronomical, as I have been 80% right in the tech sector in recent years and 80% wrong in the healthcare sector. I spend more money with my left hand than I earn with my right.

The saying comes to mind: "The tide lifts all boats" which is actually supposed to protect against overconfidence. But isn't it also true that an ebb tide lowers all boats? Perhaps neither the great hit rate in the tech sector nor the subterranean hit chance in the health sector is dependent on my investment decisions, but simply a static anomaly.

What I also want to address specifically is that I find it incredibly annoying that investing in the healthcare sector is such a drama club. I sometimes wonder whether we're doing business here or filming a telenovela. I mean, the whole thing with $HIMS (-4,33 %) is a complete kindergarten. Why is it that in the automotive industry, complete strangers manage to merge or form alliances just like that and in the healthcare industry they can't even manage to sell a few medications for 3 months without it degenerating into a mud fight and a war of the roses? My gosh.

But now it's up to you. I would be particularly interested to know how people who have been on the market for more than 10 years see it. Have health values always been such a rollercoaster ride or is the industry better than its reputation?
