After I first wrote about Surf Air Mobility ($SRFM ) about a month ago, the share price has risen sharply by around 50-60% in the last few days. Therefore a short update for the community.

The rise cannot be explained by better figures or operational improvements. It was triggered by specific company announcements that have now reached the market:

Surf Air Mobility is investing USD 26 million in the expansion of the SurfOS software platform and has further intensified its cooperation with Palantir in this context.

My conclusion remains the same:

Highly speculative, with opportunities but also clear risks. No buy and forget, no core investment.

Surf Air Mobility ($SRFM) is attempting to reorganize regional aviation in the USA: cheaper, smaller, more flexible - and in the future with hybrid or electric propulsion.

What are they actually doing?

• They operate regional flights via brands such as Southern Airways and Mokulele Airlines.
• Developing hybrid and electric drives for existing turboprops such as the Cessna Grand Caravan.
• Build SurfOS, a software platform for flight planning, fleet management and operational efficiency.

Why could $SRFM be exciting?

• Regional Air Mobility in the USA is growing, especially on short-haul routes away from the major hubs.
• Hybrid/e-drives could bring massive operating cost advantages in the long term.
• SRFM already has real flight operations, unlike many competitors who only have concepts.

Risks - viewed realistically

• Tense financial situation, high capital requirements.
• Certification of new drive systems is expensive and regulatory difficult.
• Regional flight business is traditionally low-margin.
• High volatility, price sensitive to news and financing.

Conclusion

$SRFM is a speculative high-risk/high-reward case. If electrification and operational scaling work out, it could be interesting in the long term. If not, it will end up like many aviation tech gambles.
