Hey, GQ crew ✌️

My first post since I got kicked out about 4 weeks ago—who would’ve thought that showing solidarity with one of the members (@Klein-Anleger ) would lead to a ban so quickly? But getquin’s generosity was so BIG (and, most importantly, “on a trial basis”) that they graciously let me back into the holy grail of the GQ community 😉

So guys, learn from my mistakes: The leniency here isn’t an “infinite money” glitch! Save your solidarity for later, keep your support for other members at zero, and most importantly 🚨: No sneaky advertising for alternative financial platforms like “Cisdord” 😉😂.

Sorry, that little dig after four weeks away was a must 🤝

But joking aside…

⏳The first three months of 2026 have passed. Time for a brief interim assessment of the current status of my portfolio rebuild.

Before I started rebuilding my portfolio, I naturally thought about what strategy I wanted to pursue in the coming months and years—especially with regard to stock selection and weighting.

To be honest, my original plan was to maintain a portfolio with a maximum of 20 stocks. As things progressed, however, I realized that it probably wouldn’t stay at 20—the number is more likely to rise to around 30 positions (+/-)—

♟️My Focus & Strategy:

To put it simply: The clear focus is on growth 🚀. Dividends play a rather secondary role here. Here, I’ll show you my shopping list—or rather, what my portfolio should look like in the future. The stocks I’ve already bought are marked with a green checkmark; those without a checkmark are ones I’m still waiting on ⏳

Given the global political situation—especially because of that 🍊 in the White House, whose tweets cause more tsunamis 🌊than actual natural disasters—and the current drawdown in the S&P 500 (which is actually working out great for me right now and bringing me a lot of joy 🤩), I’m consequently in the red on some of my purchases so far 💦🫧.

But hey, we’re investing for the long term, after all, right? So, taking it easy, keeping it chill 🥱 I’ll most likely hold off on making any more purchases for the time being over the next few days or weeks, park my cash elsewhere or put it in a money market account, and wait to see where the market settles or wait for it to stabilize.

What do you guys have on your watchlist?

Are you sitting on the sidelines right now, or how are you handling the current situation?

Okay, that’s enough for now 😂

Your Stock Master

Even in uncertain times like these, there are reliable stocks: with strong growth and stable dividends. Here are the best stocks from the Stoxx Global 1800.

Excluded were:

1. liabilities/total capital > 70%

2. negative EPS development in the last 5 years and those where analysts see a negative development in the next few years

3. KCV > 20

4. p/e/earnings growth > 5

5. companies that have canceled or cut dividends in the last 25 years

I'll name a few of the remaining companies here and maybe there are some that you don't know yet. Of course, these include companies such as Caterpillar, Chevron, Henkel, Munich Re, Merck and Union Pacific. They are well known. The following stocks are stable, established companies, so please don't expect any tenbagger opportunities in the next 10 months ;)

Armaments:

BAE Systems $BA. (-0,78 %)

If Europe wants to build a missile defense shield, there is no way around BAE Systems: the British armaments group was formed 26 years ago from the merger of British Aerospace and telecommunications supplier Marconi. BAE is building the Eurofighter Typhoon fighter aircraft with Airbus, and the company is also developing a new nuclear submarine for the Royal Navy. Since Russia's attack on Ukraine, the British company's order backlog has been growing and CEO Woodburn has raised the profit outlook for this year.

General Dynamics $GD (+0,56 %)

The German Armed Forces are receiving new ambulances: 80 so-called Eagle V 6x6s from the US armaments company General Dynamics. However, the Virginia-based company is best known for its Fighting Falcon F-16 fighter aircraft, which was launched in 1978 and is one of the most widely used military jets in the world. However, the fact that General Dynamics has recently surprised with positive sales and profit figures is due to its submarine division: the US Department of Defense significantly increased an existing order.

Construction

Ackermans & van Haaren $ACKB (-0,38 %)

The deepening of the Elbe near Hamburg is controversial, but the marine technology company Deme, the highest-revenue subsidiary of the Belgian conglomerate Ackermans & van Haaren, continues to dig. Deme is also involved in the construction of offshore wind farms and gas pipelines. Ackermans & van Haaren is also active in banking and the energy sector. The company's coffers are well filled and the profit prospects are intact.

Assa Abloy $ASSA B (+1,46 %)

If you have never heard of Assa Abloy, you should look out for the manufacturer of security doors. It often bears the name of the Swedish company, which claims to be the world market leader for security and access systems. Assa Abloy regularly strengthens its position with acquisitions - twelve in the past few years. The Group can afford this, as can the rising dividend.

Idex $IEX (-2,15 %)

Without water pumps from Godiva, many firefighters would quickly be left high and dry. The pumps from the US company Idex are installed in fire engines worldwide, but also in aircraft, for example. With the purchase of Micro-Lam, Idex is strengthening its optical systems division in order to win the defense industry as a customer. The share has recently been under pressure.

Pharmaceuticals

Novartis $NOVN (-0,39 %)

At the beginning of September, things went from strength to strength at the Swiss pharmaceutical group: first the healthcare giant from Basel secured the worldwide license for a new Parkinson's drug, then access to several new cardiovascular drugs from China. Both therapies have the potential to generate billions in sales in the near future. Novartis can also be satisfied with its own developments: according to initial studies, the Swiss company is on the trail of an active ingredient that should help against Sjögren's syndrome, a common rheumatic disease. But Novartis is also under the threat of US tariffs. Novartis generates around 40 percent of its total sales, approximately 17 billion euros, in the USA. To avoid the additional burden, the company is investing in seven new production facilities there.

Industry

Kurita Water $6370 (-11,87 %)

The fact that astronauts on the ISS space station have clean water is mainly thanks to the Japanese company Kurita Water. The company specializes in water treatment, develops systems and chemicals for this purpose and uses them to build self-sufficient water systems - a business with good prospects. Kurita Water also scores with stable finances and a rising dividend.

SGH $SGH (+1,98 %)

Under the umbrella of the Australian conglomerate SGH (formerly Seven Group Holdings), there is a strange mix: on the one hand, SGH sells construction machinery, building materials and energy. On the other hand, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Kerry Stokes, is something of a second Rupert Murdoch thanks to his shares in the media group Seven West Media. SGH has doubled both its profit and turnover since 2020.

Spirax $SPX (-0,55 %)

The highly upgraded steam systems from Spirax (formerly Spirax-Sarco) are used in almost all industries and sectors. However, the most promising segment is "electrical heating solutions". Here, Spirax is developing CO2-free systems for gas-powered steam power plants, for example. Spurred on by the business prospects, the share price jumped - but the price is still below the value targeted by analysts.

Topic Germanium:

I wanted to bring this up again briefly, since I am finally at a customer's today who processes germanium.

Attached is a picture from the reception area showing what these lenses are used for (crappy quality because I took a picture of the screen).

In addition a picture how ground germanium looks like.

And then something for the ESG/RSI ETF fans.

Since this stock is still present in these ETF's.

$IEX (-2,15 %) has bought into the gaff here in Birmingham and is now also playing in the defense industry🚀

Have a good start to the week getquin community 🍻

Water – Chemistry in Everyday Life

Today’s topic has been in the spotlight, largely due to Nestlé $NESN (+2,24 %) has been in the spotlight over the past few months. But even on hot summer days, there’s constant discussion about this essential element of life and the business behind it.

What’s the story with Nestlé?

Nestlé is almost constantly the subject of criticism. I expressly ask that you refrain from commenting on the company’s activities or expressing personal opinions in the comments section below this post. The “Nestlé Waters” division operates production facilities in approximately 34 countries, for example, for the bottled water brand “Pure Life.” The criticism centers on production sites in areas where water is traditionally scarce, and where pumping further lowers the groundwater level. I’ll leave it open as to whether Nestlé should bear primary blame in this regard. In any case, it’s important to keep in mind that water licenses are officially sold to Nestlé in all of these countries. Nevertheless, some YouTubers have now realized that they can generate a lot of attention—and thus money—by denouncing international corporations. I hope, at least, that they’ll keep this in mind in the future when they’re enjoying their Wagner pizza or KitKat during live streams. Otherwise, that would amount to a double standard…

Whatever one’s stance on the matter may be. There is certainly a risk of nationalization in the event of water shortages at private water utilities. For that reason, I would generally rule out investing in such companies. However, the private sector is indispensable when it comes to drinking water treatment. The individual products have such a wide range of applications that they cannot be used specifically for water.

But what is the situation in Germany?

Based on the Food Act, Germany has the Drinking Water Ordinance. The ordinance’s goal is to protect human health and ensure quality and purity. Since the 2012 update, it has also addressed issues related to Legionella. Water utilities are responsible for compliance.

The details are defined more precisely in the annexes to the Drinking Water Ordinance itself. https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/trinkwv_2001/BJNR095910001.html

But how do I go about making water usable?

Of course, this depends primarily on your region. Water always falls into different quality classes and must be treated accordingly. According to the Federal Environment Agency, just under 63% of drinking water is sourced from groundwater. However, there are significant differences, particularly when comparing the east and west. The unregulated and reckless planned economy of the former GDR has left its mark on the environment even today. However, there is generally significant contamination along the lines of major industrial centers. While the Saale, Oder, Ruhr, and Ems rivers in particular bear the marks of industrialization, the soils surrounding the chemical industrial sites in central Germany remain severely degraded. I have drawn these findings from the Water and Soil Atlas.

But why this lengthy introduction?

Both the air and the soil contain countless contaminants and even toxic particles. Rain washes these away, causing them to seep into the soil and ultimately into the groundwater.

As a result, we must now find suitable methods to maintain the quality of our drinking water.

We therefore have the option of selectively removing these substances from the water using mechanical, thermal, or chemical methods.

How does that work?

Due to differences in regional water quality, drinking water treatment must, of course, always be considered on a case-by-case basis. Nevertheless, the first step generally involves chemical treatment with ozone. Through mechanical separation stages—such as sedimentation and filtration—as well as chemical separation processes involving flocculation and pH regulation, the treated drinking water enters the public water supply. The authorities regularly take samples, which are then tested in independent laboratories.

But who actually benefits from drinking water treatment?

From a personal perspective, I view the plant as a private drinking water producer, such as Nestlé or Danone, $BN (+1,84 %) as risky. There is too great a risk of being criticized in the public eye, which makes it all the more likely that bottled water sales could be halted. Furthermore, especially in countries experiencing water shortages, one can certainly expect the nationalization of production and treatment facilities.

Beyond that, there are lucrative and promising opportunities to invest in suppliers.

An investment in drinking water treatment is inevitably linked to wastewater treatment as well.

The most prominent private-sector players in this field are American Water Works $AWK (+1,49 %) , known as the “Dividend King.” Its direct competitor—if one can even call it competition in geographical terms—is Essential Utilities $WTRG (+1,84 %) , as well as United Utilities $UU. (+0,79 %) in the United Kingdom.

Incidentally, Veolia $VIE (-0,17 %) , with its subsidiary Veolia Water, holds a dominant position. It holds countless stakes in municipal utilities and water companies. According to its own website, the company supplies approximately 5 million people in Germany with drinking water and treats their wastewater.

Even beyond direct drinking water treatment, there are highly lucrative suppliers of drinking water solutions and quality assurance services. The best-known example is probably Xylem $XYL (+1,96 %) . In addition to fluid technology—which includes pump manufacturing and other equipment—the analytics division is a bright spot for investors. Its broad portfolio covers the entire spectrum of water analytics. Thus, investors benefit not only from municipal water systems but, above all, from industrial customers who are subject to regulatory requirements. It is nearly impossible to identify a direct competitor with such a broad presence in this segment.

If one were to try nonetheless, KSB’s pump division $KSB (-0,72 %) is a prime example in Europe. In the U.S., however, IDEX $IEX (-2,15 %) can offer an alternative in the field of technical pumps.

Several companies have also specialized in the field of chemical water and wastewater treatment.

Ecolab $ECL (+0,54 %) , better known for cleaning and disinfecting agents, has been owned by Nalco Water since 2011. Its focus here is on water and wastewater treatment additives, which are also integral to any drinking water treatment process. Notable among these are slime inhibitors for biocides and Legionella, as well as corrosion inhibitors and hardness stabilizers.

Another notable competitor is DuPont $DD (-0,2 %) , specifically its “Water & Protection” division. Its focus is on special resins that can adsorb and filter specific substances from the water. Depending on the application, this extends into the nanofiltration and ultrafiltration ranges. Ion exchangers can also be used to ensure a higher level of water purity.

Have you used water today? If so, you’ve probably already come into contact with one of these products.
