Dear Community,

I’d like to present my portfolio once again.

The core of my portfolio is the $VWRL (-1,23 %) which I contribute to monthly.

I also hold a few dividend-paying stocks such as $ALV (-0,19 %)
$MCD (+0,02 %)
$BMY (+2 %) and $TTE (+1,72 %) these stocks are my “dividend stocks”—to be honest, I don’t expect much in the way of returns from them, but they might still surprise me. As for $BMY (+2 %) I’m not quite sure yet whether I should hold onto this stock or focus more on growth in the healthcare sector— $SYK (+6,94 %) For example, looks interesting right now—it might even be my new employer in the future 😜.

Then I also have a bit of growth with dividends, though that’s not my main focus $TSM (-3,38 %)
$AVGO (-2,31 %)
$SU (-3,37 %) and $8001 (+2,77 %) Itochu is sort of a middle ground.

Last but not least, of course, $BTC (+0,84 %) to cover crypto.

Once I’ve adjusted the positions under $MCD (+0,02 %) the top holdings—with a target of about 5,000€ per stock for now and BTC at 3,000€—I plan to add new holdings in the form of $VST (+0,44 %)
$XYL (+1,98 %) and maybe again $RKLB (-3,91 %) , though other holdings are of course possible until then.

Thanks for your support, opinions, suggestions for improvement, etc.

Best regards and have a great start to the weekend,

Florian

Today, Xylem paid me a dividend of $17.20.

The money went into my brokerage account $XYL (+1,98 %) because I’m fundamentally convinced of the company’s potential. It operates right at the intersection of hardware, software, and infrastructure.

It covers the entire water cycle—from extraction, treatment, and distribution to metering and wastewater treatment.

A key driver of value can be found in the following factors:

1. Increasing water scarcity and outdated infrastructure worldwide

2. High-quality revenue from the traditional replacement parts business

3. Pricing power, as system failures related to water can cause high costs and problems

4. High demand for water management, driven by the boom in data centers, but also, for example, by hydroelectric power generation

The issue of water is likely to become increasingly important in the future.

Of course, a company like Xylem won’t generate anywhere near the revenue here that, say, an AI tech giant does—but they’re simply indispensable for making many things possible in the first place.

Best regards, FinanzMechaNik

I've had this stock in my portfolio for a while now, and for some reason, hardly anyone talks about it.

$XYL (+1,98 %) Basically, they do everything related to water: pumps, water treatment, measurement systems, leak detection, and so on.

Sounds pretty boring at first 😅

But that’s exactly what I kind of like about it.

Water pipes aren’t getting any younger, many cities need to invest, and in my opinion, water is going to become more important—not less—in the future.

Sure, Xylem isn’t exactly an insider tip, and I don’t necessarily think the stock is cheap right now. That’s why I wouldn’t just blindly buy more here.

I actually really like stocks like this. No big story, no next AI hype—just a business that will likely continue to be needed.

Do you also have a “boring” stock like this in your portfolio that hardly anyone has on their radar?

Which water stock do you find most interesting in the long term? 💧

$XYL (+1,98 %) Xylem or $ECL (+0,59 %) Ecolab in terms of growth and technology, or would you prefer American Water Works as a more defensive long-term investment? 🤔

and it's not me. $FNTN (+1,02 %)

Why is that? Let's take a look at that.

freenet AG is a holding company that offers telecommunications services. The company is divided into two central business divisions: Mobile Communications and TV and Media.

In the Mobile Communications segment, freenet bundles its traditional communications services. These include, in particular, mobile phone tariffs and, increasingly, internet-based applications such as digital lifestyle products.

The TV & Media segment comprises IPTV-related services. These include planning, project management, development, operation and marketing of broadcasting-related solutions for business customers in the radio and media sector.

The company was founded on March 2, 2007.

Management: Freenet has appointed Robin Harries as its new CEO with effect from August 1, 2025. He has many years of experience in the telecommunications and digital industry. At the same time, the Management Board structure was reduced to two members. Ingo Arnold remains CFO and his appointment has been extended. This indicates continuity and clearly defined responsibilities.

Strategy: The management is pursuing a so-called digital lifestyle strategy. Specific financial targets have been formulated for 2025 as well as a medium-term ambition to significantly increase EBITDA by 2028.

Capital allocation: In 2024, freenet achieved a record level of EBITDA and free cash flow. A record dividend of €1.97 per share was approved at the 2025 Annual General Meeting. In addition, the Management Board has launched a share buyback program with a volume of up to €100 million. Both of these factors indicate a high level of cash generation and an active dividend policy.

Freenet positions itself as a provider of digital lifestyle solutions. The core business consists of network-independent mobile services with its own brands and tariffs. This is supplemented by a growing TV and IPTV business, for example with freenet TV and waipu.tv. Revenue is primarily generated from subscriptions, device margins and additional services as well as from media offerings and service packages.

Freenet combines its own product design and brand management with a broad-based sales organization. This includes its own stores, the electronics trade and online channels. At the same time, the company relies on strong customer management and long-term customer relationships. Partnerships with network operators, device manufacturers and media providers reduce the need for in-house infrastructure and allow the company to focus on customer acquisition, cross-selling and stable, recurring revenues.

Freenet benefits from a network-independent business model in mobile communications and from a growing TV and streaming offering. The combination of direct sales and partner channels supports stable revenues, customer retention and additional sales opportunities. The expansion of IPTV services and the positioning as a digital lifestyle provider open up further growth potential.

Risks: The German telecommunications market is highly competitive, which can lead to price pressure. In addition, regulatory decisions, for example on network access policy or the allocation of frequencies, can affect margins and growth. Other risks include the strong dependence on the domestic market as well as technological changes and the associated investment requirements.

Sounds good, why am I not buying?

Quite simply, I don't like the dividend payout ratio...

I'm not as optimistic about Freenet as others are (even though I'm a Waipu fan myself ;))

With charts etc. and better structured... here: I'm not as optimistic about Freenet as others are (even though I'm a Waipu fan myself ;)) https://steady.page/de/finanzen-anders/posts/e7e8e6a1-3006-4173-91d7-283f094cb32b

This week I will still $XYL (+1,98 %) and $AWK (+1,53 %) this week. And maybe I still have time for $9988 (-1,04 %)

After a long time, I have a new addition to the depot. This is about $XYL (+1,98 %) . The company has existed since 2011 and emerged from a spin-off of the Group. $ITT (-1,85 %) group.

In short, Xylem's business model is the manufacture of water treatment systems and water analysis equipment. A nice defensive business model at a reasonably fair price. You can't expect to see price fireworks here, but water is unlikely to become redundant (joke intended) or disrupted in the foreseeable future.

Defensive stocks are in demand at the moment and Xylem's valuation is still reasonable. I have been following the stock for many years, but in the end I have always decided against Xylem and in favor of software stocks. As there is so much uncertainty in the software sector at the moment, I have now taken the opportunity to invest in Xylem. Apart from the first tranche, I am accumulating around €200-250 per month in the stock via a savings plan.

Nevertheless, I remain invested in software and have also increased my $GOOGL (+0 %) / $GOOG (+0,06 %) position further. This stock isn't cheap either, but I reckon you CAN still buy it in the €250-260 range without burning yourself out. Maybe even higher, but I can't say. If I already had a relevant position here, I probably wouldn't add to it at the current price. But since Alphabet really has a good technology again for the first time in years, I think it would be reckless not to be invested at all.

Since he is certainly interested @topicswithhead I hereby draw his attention to the post. (He was right about Alphabet and ASML right from the start)

Dear Community,

Where the hunger for energy is being met by nuclear power and the new generation of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), a massive growth market for downstream services is inevitably emerging.

This applies above all to nuclear waste disposal, the professional dismantling of old plants and the recycling of fuels and water.

Since there is currently no pure "nuclear waste ETF" (at least that I am aware of), we investors must focus on specialized individual stocks that are global leaders in the disposal of uranium and contaminated components (including water).

1. the operational heavyweights for dismantling and disposal

• Veolia ($VIE (-0,03 %)
): Although Veolia is primarily perceived as a global environmental services provider, it also operates a nuclear power plant with Veolia Nuclear Solutions a highly specialized division. As the global market leader in robot-assisted cleaning and the dismantling of highly radioactive sites (such as Fukushima), they are indispensable. They offer technologies for the vitrification of waste ("vitrification", the transformation of liquid or solid nuclear waste into a solid glass body) and for water treatment in contaminated areas. Veolia thus bridges the gap to the traditional water business and covers two key areas in its portfolio at the same time.

• Fortum ($FORTUM (-0,74 %)
): The Finnish energy group is a hidden champion of nuclear aftercare. In addition to operating power plants, Fortum offers specialized services for the purification of radioactive liquids (NUKEM technology) and final disposal. They are a key player in European waste management standards.

• Jacobs Solutions ($J (+1,47 %)
): The US engineering services giant manages major government nuclear sites such as Sellafield (UK) and Hanford (USA). Its focus is on program management for the long-term storage of fuel elements. The SMR connection is particularly exciting: Jacobs is already advising numerous developers on planning the entire life cycle, including disposal.

• Perma-Fix Environmental Services ($PESI (-6,33 %)
): Perma-Fix is regarded as one of the few genuine "pure plays". The company operates its own facilities for the treatment of nuclear and mixed waste. Its core competence lies in massively reducing the volume of nuclear waste before it is transferred to a final repository.

2 The fuel cycle: Cameco and Westinghouse

Cameco ($CCO (-7,66 %)
) is primarily known as a uranium producer, but together with Brookfield Asset Management holds a majority stake in Westinghouse Electric Corporation (electrical engineering). The company thus covers the entire cycle:

• Operations: Cameco produces uranium concentrate (yellowcake), while Westinghouse supplies the reactor technology and maintenance.

• Disposal expertise: Through Westinghouse, Cameco covers the lucrative "back end". This includes the decontamination of process water as well as the conditioning and volume reduction of of radioactive waste.

• Dismantling service: As a technological market leader, the team offers solutions for the dismantling (D&D) of old plants, using specialized filter systems to clean contaminated liquids.

• Market model: Sales are stable through long-term supply contracts. The service division makes the company less dependent on fluctuations in the uranium price, as maintenance and waste treatment are permanent tasks required by law.

Energy Fuels ($UUUU (-4,79 %)
): This company occupies a strategic niche. In its White Mesa Mill they recover uranium from residual materials and waste from other industries. This positions Energy Fuels as a pioneer in "uranium recycling", which reduces dependence on primary extraction and makes waste streams economically viable.

3. specialty materials and water technology

In the nuclear industry, water is not only a coolant, but often also a transport medium for contaminants. This is where the technology leaders come into play:

• Xylem Inc. ($XYL (+1,98 %)
): As a pure water technology company, Xylem supplies the heavy-duty pumping and filtration systems that are essential for the cooling circuits of modern reactors and subsequent wastewater treatment.

• Danaher Corporation ($DHR (-1,64 %)
): Via the divested environmental division Veralto Danaher offers high-precision analytical instruments for monitoring water quality - a critical component for detecting leaks and contamination in real time.

• Umicore ($UMI (-4,53 %)
): The materials technology group is pursuing a "closed-loop" model. In the long term, its expertise in recovering metals from complex industrial waste could play a role in the recycling of power plant components.

The new generation of reactors: SMR specialists in detail

When it comes to direct energy supply for the AI sector, two companies are in the spotlight:

• NuScale Power ($SMR
): The conservative pioneer relies on proven light water reactor technology (VOYGR™). As NuScale traditionally relies on water, the need for water technology (pumps, filters from suppliers such as Xylem) is extremely high. This makes NuScale an ideal partner for traditional infrastructure investors.

• Oklo Inc.$OKLO
): The radical innovator (supported by Sam Altman) develops "fast reactors". The key feature: these can be fueled with recycled nuclear waste (HALEU). Oklo transforms a disposal problem directly into an energy source and thus addresses the waste problem at its root.

Strategic conclusion

If you want to bridge the gap between water cooling and waste disposal, you will find in Veolia the most stable connection.

Jacobs Solutions and Perma-Fix are the most direct options for physical dismantling.

Energy Fuels offers an exciting bet on the recycling of uranium residues, while Xylem and Danaher provide the indispensable technological basis for water management in a nuclear renaissance.

However, the decisive strategic winner of the current nuclear renaissance could be the team of Cameco & Westinghouse ($CCO) (-7,66 %) could be:

By merging uranium mining and reactor technology, they have created a vertically integrated business model. They not only profit from the sale of the fuel, but also control the entire downstream value chain via Westinghouse - from the purification of the process water to the final storage preparation.

As a result, Cameco has risen from a pure mining player to an indispensable infrastructure partner for the energy and AI economy.

In addition, the 80 billion dollar agreement with the US government agreed at the end of 2025 is likely to have cemented Cameco's long-term market leadership in the West (https://de.marketscreener.com/boerse-nachrichten/westinghouse-electric-cameco-und-brookfield-starten-80-milliarden-dollar-offensive-fuer-atomkraft-in-ce7d5ddcd88cf127).

Risk analysis

The nuclear renaissance is more real today than it was ten years ago, but as investors we need to look at two sides of the coin:

Opportunities through regulatory certainty: Waste disposal and dismantling are not "optional services", but permanent tasks prescribed by law. Financing is often already secured by existing provisions of the groups, which makes the service providers (Veolia, Jacobs, Perma-Fix) crisis-resistant.

Risks: Political risks remain. A change of government can delay approval processes for final storage facilities. In addition, the sector is highly emotional; ESG ratings often (still?!) determine how much capital actually flows into the shares.

Could water and waste management technology end up being the safer investment than the actual SMR builders, because it makes money from every technological outcome? How do you see the risk/reward ratio?

Best regards and thank you very much for the positive response and all the feedback on my previous and very first post ✌🏼

Anderlé

Dear Community,

As this is my first post here, I am looking forward to your feedback and whether it offers any added value for you. If you wish, I will also add fundamental figures in the future.

Back then, some time ago, I invested directly in the Vanguard FTSE All World
$VWRL (-1,23 %) and - more specifically - in the iShares Global Water $IH2O (+0,32 %) bought in. My train of thought was simple: nothing works without water, humans are made up of around 60% of it (depending on age) and the raw material is becoming increasingly scarce or has to be reprocessed for us.

In the meantime, I have learned a lot from you and I am no longer sure whether I would invest in an entire sector ETF again today. But: I can't let go of the topic of water. I even claim that water companies are the secret winners of the AI boom. Why? Because data centers, (small) reactors and the massive hunger for energy (keyword: cooling) would be completely lost without a perfect water infrastructure.

That's why I took a closer look at a few companies that caught my eye during my research (almost exclusively via aktien.guide):

The "hardware" faction

• Xylem Inc. $XYL (+1,98 %)
: These guys and gals are basically the top dogs / top cows when it comes to pumps and sensors. They do everything from wastewater technology to digital monitoring. Opportunity: The global backlog of pipeline renovations plays right into their hands. Risk: When the economy weakens, less is built - Xylem notices this immediately.

• Pentair PLC $PNR (+1,49 %)
: Particularly exciting for me because of the data centers. They manufacture highly efficient industrial pumps and heat exchangers. As the trend is moving away from air cooling towards liquid cooling, Pentair is right at the source here.

Specialists & suppliers

• Ecolab $ECL (+0,59 %)
: They probably work directly with Google and Microsoft, among others. The aim here is to chemically treat the water in the data centers so that less is consumed. A classic "sustainability play".

• American Water Works $AWK (+1,53 %)
: This is the largest US utility. Many US data centers are simply connected to the public grid. More data traffic = more cooling demand = more revenue for the utility. Sounds boring, but it's an extremely stable cash flow as long as regulation plays along.

• Veralto $VLTO WI (+6,03 %)
: A spin-off from Danaher. They focus on water quality. This is particularly critical for the planned mini-reactors (SMRs) - if the cooling water becomes corrosive, you have a real problem.

The "planners" and niche players

• Stantec Inc. $STN (-0,11 %)
: Not a hardware builder, but the architects behind it. When Big Tech plans a new center, Stantec provides the concepts for water, waste water, disposal and generally an environmentally friendly harmony. No excavator moves without their approval expertise.

• Georg Fischer AG (GF) $GF (-1,13 %)
: A "hidden champion". The Swiss make specialized piping systems from plastic and metal. In data centers and especially in reactors, nothing must leak, GF supplies the appropriate, durable systems.

• Roper Technologies $ROP (+3,95 %)
  & A.O. Smith $AOS (-0,56 %)
: Roper is more of a software conglomerate for digital control (Smart Water), while A.O. Smith - originally known for heaters - is increasingly moving into industrial temperature control.

A look at the scales: opportunities vs. risks

Of course, all that glitters is not gold - not even with "water stocks". If you look at the players above, you also have to read between the lines:

Why the whole thing could - continue to - fly (opportunities):

• The "moat" (moat): Many of these companies have extremely deep specialized knowledge. Once a company like Ecolab is deeply involved in the processes of a Google data center, you don't just change them. That makes for sticky sales.

• Regulation as a tailwind: environmental regulations are becoming stricter worldwide. Companies have to invest in order to retain their water certificates. For Veralto or Xylem, this is like a built-in guarantee of growth.

• SMR hype: If the small modular reactors really do come on such a scale, they will need massively precise cooling technology. Specialists such as A.O. Smith or Georg Fischer are at the forefront, because standard solutions would simply be too unsafe.

Where it could hurt (risks):

• Capital intensity & interest rates: building water infrastructure is expensive. If interest rates remain high, companies suffer because they constantly have to take out loans for new pipes and plants.

• Politics & bureaucracy: Politics often determine how much prices can be increased, especially for utilities. A new government (or a stricter regulatory authority) can quickly eat into your margins.

• Economic dependency: Even though we always need water, new investments aren cyclical. If the construction industry weakens, Pentair or Georg Fischer sell fewer pipes and pumps for new projects.

• Valuation risk: Because everyone is currently discovering the topic of "AI infrastructure", many of these shares (such as Roper) are no longer a bargain. You often pay a considerable premium for the hope of the future.

My conclusion: Water is often the "forgotten wheel" on the AI wagon. Everyone often only looks at companies such as Nvidia or the energy suppliers, but the physical limit for the scaling (!) of data centers is often simply water. In dry regions such as Arizona, the recycling concept determines whether a site is approved at all. So here you are investing in the foundation of digitalization.

What do you think, shovel manufacturers?

Preview: If you don't tear me and my first post to shreds here, I'll next take a look at companies that deal with the disposal of uranium waste and contaminated water (reactors and SMRs). Also a pretty "dirty" but possibly lucrative business.

Best regards and thanks again for the great community ✌🏼

Today I would like to give you a brief insight into what I consider to be an enormously exciting industry of the future.

Water is becoming the strategic resource of our time. While capital flows continue to flow into energy, AI and defense, an industry is growing in the background that is likely to determine security of supply, quality of life and geopolitical stability in the future: the efficient extraction, treatment and distribution of clean water. The combination of seawater desalination and decentralized water treatment in particular is developing into a future sector with considerable structural potential.

According to the World Bank, more than two billion people already live in regions with chronic water shortages. Climate change is further exacerbating this situation: periods of drought, declining groundwater reserves and increasing water consumption due to urbanization and industrial production are pushing existing systems to their limits. Traditional water management is increasingly coming up against physical and ecological limitations. As a result, desalination and treatment are being transformed from an emergency solution into a pillar of modern infrastructure - a market which, according to industry analysts, could reach a volume of up to 250 billion US dollars by 2035. These estimates mark the upper end of the forecast range; realistically speaking, growth is likely to be in the region of 6 to 8 percent annually, driven by public investment programs and private infrastructure partnerships.

Technological progress is giving this development a boost. Reverse osmosis, the core process of seawater desalination, is becoming more efficient, more durable and more modular. A key role is played here by$ERII (-1,87 %) I (Energy Recovery Inc.): With its PX Pressure Exchanger, the Californian company has established a technology that reduces the energy consumption of desalination plants by up to 60 percent. This brings the economic viability of such projects within reach - even in regions that were previously considered too cost-intensive. ERII acts not as an operator, but as an enabler: a technology supplier that brings efficiency and scalability to a traditionally sluggish industry.

$CWCO (+0,96 %) (Consolidated Water Co.) stands for the operational implementation of this change. The company plans, builds and operates desalination plants in the Caribbean, Mexico and increasingly also in the USA. The latest project in Hawaiʻi, with a contract value of over 200 million US dollars, shows that desalination is no longer just a niche technology, but is becoming part of modern public services - even in industrialized countries. While $ERII (-1,87 %) stands for energy efficiency and technological differentiation, desalination embodies $CWCO (+0,96 %) embodies the infrastructural core: physical access to water.

A broad industrial ecosystem is emerging along the value chain. $XYL (+1,98 %) (Xylem Inc.) develops digital control and sensor systems for water and wastewater networks, $VIE (-0,03 %) (Veolia Environnement) is a global market leader in the treatment and reuse of water, and $PNR (+1,49 %) (Pentair plc) serves the filtration and pump technology sector. $AWK (+1,53 %) (American Water Works), the largest listed utility in the USA, stands for stability and predictable cash flows. In addition, there are specialized providers such as Forward Water Technologies or Desalitech (DuPont Water Solutions), which develop decentralized, modular treatment plants - an area that is increasingly seen as a driver of innovation for the entire industry.

This decentralization in particular is changing the logic of the market. While mega-projects such as those in Saudi Arabia or Israel dominate the media attention, the demand for compact, scalable systems for hotels, farms, industrial parks or coastal communities is growing. Such modular systems can be operated locally, require fewer permits and can be flexibly adapted - characteristics that are becoming increasingly important in times of geopolitical uncertainty and disrupted supply chains. This is reminiscent of the transformation in the energy industry: once centrally organized, now increasingly distributed.

The comparison with the solar industry is therefore understandable - albeit with limitations. Water infrastructure remains a local, permit-intensive and capital-intensive business. Scaling is not exponential, but gradual. Nevertheless, the direction is right: just as photovoltaics has decentralized access to energy, water technology will increasingly organize access to drinking and process water locally. Increased efficiency, automation and digitalization do not replace speed here, but ensure sustainability and profitability over long periods of time.

This will create a new form of infrastructure that combines economic stability with ecological necessity. Water is not a substitutable good; it is the basis of every industrial activity. Demand is inelastic, supply is increasingly driven by technology. For investors, this results in a rare combination: social relevance, political backing and economic predictability. Water treatment addresses key sustainability goals of the United Nations and is one of the few areas in which ESG capital flows are congruent with real economic benefits.

Of course, the industry remains challenging. Desalination is energy-intensive, the recycling of concentrated brine is ecologically sensitive and approval procedures often take years. Many projects depend on state planning and financing, which harbors political risks. Nevertheless, the structural logic prevails: without investment in water infrastructure, neither agriculture nor industry will be sustainable in the long term.

The sector offers several opportunities for investors: Technology providers such as $ERII (-1,87 %) and $PNR (+1,49 %) benefit from margin levers through innovation, operators such as$CWCO (+0,96 %) or $VIE (-0,03 %) offer stable, inflation-protected cash flows, and digital and infrastructure service providers such as $XYL (+1,98 %) connect both worlds via data and control technology. This interplay forms an industry that is not defined by cycles, but by necessity.

Water treatment will therefore become one of the key topics of the coming decade - not as a quickly scalable growth story, but as a long-term answer to the most pressing resource issues of our time. Water is the foundation of every economy, and desalination is its silent but indispensable engine. In my opinion, anyone investing in this sector today is not positioning themselves in the trend, but in the substance.

$ERII (-1,87 %) (Energy Recovery Inc.) is one of those engineering stocks that has long operated away from stock market attention and is suddenly at the center of a megatrend. The Californian specialist develops systems that minimize energy losses in fluid-based processes - a technical niche topic that is becoming massively more important in the wake of decarbonization, energy efficiency and water scarcity.

The principle is simple but highly efficient: energy is lost as pressure in industrial processes. Energy Recovery uses this pressure to recover it via closed systems - whether in desalination plants, CO₂-based cooling circuits or heat pumps. The company thus represents the quiet, engineering-driven side of the energy transition.

The share is valued according to the 10B model, which combines technological quality, market potential, management performance, financial strength and risk asymmetry to identify small but potentially multipliable growth stocks.

1. business model - 17 / 20

The foundation of the business model is the proprietary Pressure Exchanger, a technology that transfers kinetic energy between high and low pressure streams. The system has long been the industry standard in seawater desalination - energy requirements can be reduced by up to 60 %.

Energy Recovery generates the majority of its revenue from hardware sales and service contracts, but is gradually expanding the technology to new industries. These include CO₂ refrigeration systems, industrial heat recovery and process gases. This modularity makes the business model more scalable and less cyclical.

With gross margins of over 70% and stable cash flows, ERII is one of the most profitable providers in the energy efficiency sector.

2. market & growth potential - 16 / 20

Energy recovery addresses several global growth trends in parallel. Water scarcity and urbanization are driving the expansion of desalination plants - a market with an annual volume of over USD 10 billion. At the same time, the decarbonization of industry is accelerating the transition to efficient, CO₂-based heat pump and cooling systems.

The total addressable volume of the segments in which ERII is active is between 15 and 20 billion US dollars annually, while current sales are around 125 million US dollars. This shows how much scaling potential there is in the business model.

Growth will remain project-driven in the short term, but structurally robust in the long term - driven by political and economic efficiency targets worldwide.

3rd Technological Position & Moat - 18 / 20

Energy Recovery has a clearly defined technological moat. Over 500 patents protect key components and the PX technology is regarded as the global benchmark in desalination.

The real capital lies in the engineering expertise: the understanding of complex pressure and fluid mechanics is deeply rooted and almost impossible to copy. This specialization gives ERII an edge that goes beyond pure hardware - a platform that physically addresses energy losses, not just measures them on the software side.

Relevant listed benchmarks are:

• $XYL (+1,98 %) (Xylem Inc.) - US specialist in water technologies, similarly high-margin but much broader-based.
• $VIE (-0,03 %) (Veolia Environnement) - French infrastructure group with a focus on desalination and recycling, but with less technological specialization.
• $DHR (-1,64 %) (Danaher Corp.) - global technology group with a focus on environmental and process analytics, more systemic than focused.

This peer group shows that Energy Recovery occupies a technological niche where physical efficiency is the true competitive advantage.

4. management & capital allocation - 14 / 20

David Moon has led the company since January 2025. He took over from Robert Mao, who had prepared the strategic expansion into new applications in 2023/24. Moon, previously Chief Operating Officer, brings operational experience and a clear focus on scaling.

The balance sheet is debt-free and the cash position is over 100 million US dollars. Research and development are financed entirely from cash flow - an indicator of solid capital discipline. Moon pursues a pragmatic approach: less theory, more implementation. The next strategic step is to accelerate the market penetration of the new CO₂ technologies.

This combination of technical depth and financial prudence creates an attractive foundation for sustainable growth.

5. opportunity-risk profile - 15 / 20

With an expected P/E ratio of around 34 (2025e), the share appears ambitiously valued at first glance, but the combination of a high margin, stable balance sheet and structural tailwind speaks for itself.

The risk lies in the speed of scaling. If the transition from desalination to new segments is slower than planned, there is a risk of phases of operational stagnation. In the medium term, however, the opportunity for Energy Recovery to address several vertical markets with the same technology and thus multiply its sales leverage outweighs this risk.

Overall score and classification

After evaluation in the 10B model, Energy Recovery achieved 17 points for business model, 16 for market and growth, 18 for technological position, 14 for management and 15 for opportunity-risk - an overall score of 80 points. It combines technological precision, high margins and conservative balance sheet management in a market with structural tailwinds.

I plan to build up an initial position in the near future. A small technology stock with real leverage on efficiency, water and decarbonization - exemplary for the 10B universe.
