$CBRS reportedly saw its IPO roadshow become 20x oversubscribed, forcing an aggressive increase in pricing expectations ahead of tomorrow’s Nasdaq debut.
Here’s what stands out from a fundamental perspective:
• IPO range raised from $115–$125 to $150–$160
• Implied valuation near $49B
• FY2025 revenue reached $510M, growing 76% YoY
• Massive $24.6B backlog (RPO) driven mainly by OpenAI and AWS partnerships
It’s valuing the company based on its position in what could become the next major AI battleground: AI Inference.
While most investors still focus on AI training infrastructure, Cerebras is targeting the execution layer — running large language models faster and more efficiently at scale.
Their technological moat is the Wafer-Scale Engine (WSE-3), a chip architecture radically different from traditional GPU clusters. Cerebras claims substantial inference advantages versus Nvidia’s Blackwell systems in specific LLM workloads.
At roughly 95x trailing sales, this IPO leaves almost no room for execution mistakes. The $20B OpenAI agreement becomes absolutely critical to justify current expectations.
And let’s not forget:
• Nvidia is aggressively entering the inference space
• Financial filings disclosed material weaknesses in reporting controls
• Non-GAAP operations are still running at a loss despite headline profitability
From a portfolio perspective, this is the definition of a high-beta growth play.
For investors positioned heavily in defensive or value-oriented assets, CBRS could provide asymmetric upside exposure to the next phase of AI infrastructure — but position sizing matters.
Personally, I’ll be watching the Day 1 price action very carefully. If the IPO opens above $200, the valuation could quickly move into speculative territory short term, even if the long-term thesis remains intact.
The AI race is no longer just about training models. It’s becoming about who can run them fastest, cheapest, and at global scale, and Cerebras wants to become the infrastructure behind that shift.
