💸 The Hidden Risk Behind the AI Boom — Roundtripping

Everyone knows the AI market is overheating. But what if the real risk isn’t just overvaluation — it’s where the money’s coming from?

Here is the setup critics are pointing at:

- $NVDA (-0.8%) pours billions into OpenAI (directly or through partners).

- OpenAI uses that same money to buy NVIDIA’s GPUs.

- $NVDA (-0.8%) reports record “sales,” even though the demand was financed by itself.

This is called roundtripping — money looping through the same players to inflate revenue and market caps.

$ORCL (-1.71%) and $AMD (-3.31%) are caught in similar loops: $ORCL (-1.71%) funds AI data centers built with $NVDA (-0.8%) chips, and $AMD (-3.31%) gives OpenAI stock warrants it can flip to buy more $AMD (-3.31%) hardware.

It looks like growth — until the outside money stops flowing. Then everyone in the loop gets hit at once.

So if the AI bubble bursts, the cause might not just be “hype cooling off,” but the collapse of these self-funding cycles that make the whole system look bigger than it is.

TL;DR: Some of AI’s insane growth might be built on circular money, not real demand — and that could be the domino that starts the next correction.

Yes, that's true. But as long as the music is playing you have to get up and join in, going short is currently suicide and with long bills you are actually earning yourself silly! You just have to bail out in time. Unfortunately, you can only say whether it was in time later 💁😜

AMD and Oracle plan gigantic AI supercluster with 50,000 CPUs from 2026

$AMD (-3.31%) and $ORCL (-1.71%) are significantly expanding their partnership and are planning a gigantic AI supercluster with 50,000 AMD Instinct MI450 GPUs from the third quarter of 2026. The project is based on AMD's new "Helios" rack design, combined with the upcoming EPYC processor generation and Pensando network technology. The aim is to create an open, scalable platform for high-performance AI workloads. According to AMD manager Forrest Norrod, open collaboration is at the heart of the strategy to make AI infrastructure more efficient and flexible. The deal follows recent major orders from OpenAI and Microsoft - and underlines AMD's growing importance in the global competition for powerful AI hardware.

Dear All,

something that may have gone a little under the radar recently and why I believe that $NBIS (-6.56%) will soon be bringing in even more deals: Marc Boroditsky, new CRO at Nebius.

Key facts:

3-time founder, 20 years of experience
Worked at Cloudflare before Nebius --> 3 months later Cloudflare was a Nebius customer. After 5 months, Microsoft followed as you know
He was at Twilio for 7 years, is a consultant at BrowserStack and Director at Asana - all possible top customers
As founder and CEO he was at Passlogix, which was taken over by Oracle. He therefore probably has the best contacts to $ORCL (-1.71%) .

After the news yesterday, combined with the fact that Oracle has an order volume of 455 million, 250 million of which is in the AI sector, the only question I have is when Nebius will announce a deal with Oracle.

A deal with Oracle could bring in 2-8 million, with a term of 5 years thus 10-40 million - let's remain "conservative" and take 15-20 million within 5 years.

I am still convinced of rapid growth at Nebius and perhaps one or two others will join us :)

Overpromised, underdelivered: Oracle’s AI reality check

Yesterday was a rough one for the tech crowd. $ORCL (-1.71%) took a proper hit after The Information

(https://www.theinformation.com/briefings/oracles-ai-cloud-business-razor-thin-16-gross-profit-margin-new-data-show) shared some figures showing its shiny new AI business is running on margins of just 14% – and that’s before counting some potential losses on $NVDA (-0.8%) Blackwell chips.

That’s miles away from what everyone expected. The idea that “AI = easy profit” suddenly doesn’t look so bulletproof anymore.

$ORCL (-1.71%) stock dropped around 5%, and the whole cloud/AI sector followed it down. Nasdaq 100 slid roughly half a percent, but some individual names fell much harder – $SNOW (-1.82%)
$ZS (-1.9%)
$ZM (-0.36%)… and yeah, even $BILL (-2.15%) (which I’m holding myself 👀)

What’s behind the noise?

Turns out the costs of running massive AI infrastructure – chips, data centres, energy, staff – are chewing through profits faster than expected.

There’s also this slightly dodgy-sounding “circular funding” triangle going on between $ORCL (-1.71%) - OpenAI - $NVDA (-0.8%) basically money looping around the same players, propping up each other’s revenues.

Feels a bit like déjà vu from the early 2000s, doesn’t it?

About BILL

Funny thing is, $BILL (-2.15%) has also been in the news lately, but for something much healthier. They’ve teamed up with $ORCL (-1.71%)
NetSuite to improve B2B payments processing for US companies.

It’s a smart move, really. While $ORCL (-1.71%) AI margins look shaky, partnerships like this one show they’re still pushing to build value in the more “real-world” parts of the business stuff that actually saves companies time and money.

And for $BILL (-2.15%), it means tapping into $ORCL (-1.71%) huge client base and integrating deeper into enterprise systems proper long-term potential there.

My take. What do you think?

Yesterday’s dip felt more like a wake-up call than a meltdown.

AI’s not dead, but maybe it’s due for a reality check – not every company can print money just by slapping “AI” on the label.

Still holding my $BILL (-2.15%) position. It’s volatile, sure, but I reckon the fundamentals are sound and this partnership could age well once the market calms down a bit.

Was this just a short-term shakeout, or are we starting to see the first cracks in the AI hype cycle?

What does the vertical integration of data centers mean for $IREN (-2.57%) ? We take a look at this article from DataXConnect: " $NBIS (-6.56%) will be a DataOne tenant for the next 10 years" (1). $NBIS (-6.56%) provides the designs for the construction by DataOne. DataOne owns power, land, substations, transmission infrastructure, backup power generation and facility operations!

$NBIS (-6.56%) pays colocation to DataOne! The 3.7 billion that Google/Fluidstack $WULF (-3.75%) pays for 200 MW (2)? The 3 billion that Google/Fluidstack pays $CIFR (-6.34%) pays for 168 MW (3)?

$NBIS (-6.56%) DataOne is paying around 5.45 billion for their 300 MW. It is probably more, as DataOne has significantly more influence than $WULF (-3.75%) / $CIFR (-6.34%) as DataOne/BSO operates 240 data centers worldwide; for comparison: $EQIX (-0.07%) (75 billion mcap) has 270 data centers. He also secured $ORCL (-1.71%) Crusoe's electricity when Crusoe failed at Bitcoin mining. $CRWV (-4.88%) at least recognizes the weakness and tries to $CORZ (-5.14%) to buy up.

Its facilities are optimized for Bitcoin mining, artificial intelligence (AI) cloud services and other power-intensive computing. The mining data centers are located in Canal Flats, Mackenzie, Prince George and Childress. Bitcoin Mining provides security for the Bitcoin network. Al Cloud Services provides cloud compute for Al customers, 1,896 NVIDIA H100 and H200 GPUs. The Canal Flats facility is located in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, 100 kilometers (km) from Cranbrook Regional Airport and 500 km east of Vancouver. Its facility is located in Prince George, the city in northern British Columbia, 500 km north of Vancouver. The facility is located in Childress County, Texas, more than 250 miles northwest of Dallas and in close proximity to several wind and solar power plants in the region. The company operates 200 MW of data centers in Childress.

Nvidia: Makes everything perfect

$NVDA (-0.8%) invests 100 billion in OpenAI, which then invests in $ORCL (-1.71%) and then invest them in Nvidia.

So 60% of the 100 billion ends up directly back in Nvidia's coffers + they have a stake and influence that OpenAI continues to buy more and more GPUs. What a business!
