It can happen that quickly. Presented 2 days ago by dear @Tenbagger2024 at € 12.80 and landed on the watch because I found the stock super exciting. I placed an initial order at €12.50 and suddenly it moved from the watch to the portfolio. Let's hope that $MITK (-2,32%) does a better job as a bouncer in future and that this doesn't happen again at even lower prices (next KO placed at €12).

Good morning my dears,

I had actually planned to present another company today. But for the sake of a good friend and the project, I decided to present today's company first.

The planned company presentation will take place tomorrow.

In a new world?

I think we can all agree that AI and the associated further digitalization will change the world enormously. My dears, it will make many things easier for us, but unfortunately AI also opens the door to people who don't want anything good for us.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to tell whether an already often slightly confused US president is still the real one 🍊.

In an anonymous online world, companies need to know for sure who they are doing business with (human vs. bot, real person vs. deepfake). Synthetic fraud (AI-generated faces/voices) is exploding. Mitek Systems (MITK) provides the "counter AI" to detect fakes. Mitek is a specialized software provider that secures two critical functions in the digital economy: Mobile Check Deposit (Mobile Deposit) and Digital Identity Verification (Identity Verification). In the US, Mitek is the gatekeeper for mobile.

Ladies and gentlemen, that brings us directly to today's company.

Let me and my friend know in the comments.

Does this new world hold great potential for Mitek?

And would Mitek be an interesting investment for you?

Mitek investment thesis

The problem

• The market is entering a new phase driven by AI-generated synthetic fraud, outpacing previous controls, creating increasing losses and operational burdens. Organizations need accurate, multi-signal decisioning for onboarding, authentication and transaction risk - not fragmented, single solutions from multiple vendors.

How Mitek solves it

• Mitek delivers fraud and identity solutions that combine identity verification, authentication, liveness detection, deepfake detection and advanced fraud analytics. MiVIP orchestrates proprietary and third-party signals into a single workflow. Its technology also supports check verification, which enables more than one billion mobile deposits annually.

Why is it special?

• Mitek combines decades of expertise in high-volume imaging, leadership positions in biometrics and life detection, and deep fraud analytics capabilities with long-standing relationships with financial institutions. Joint AI and signal capture capabilities provide increased accuracy, reduced customer complexity and improved efficiency as the platform scales.

How Mitek makes money

• They generate recurring SaaS and usage-based revenue from identity, authentication and fraud workflows, as well as stable mobile deposit licenses with contractual increases. As customers consolidate vendors and expand multi-signal workflows, SaaS share increases and unit cost economics strengthen.

Why now

• AI-driven fraud and increased check fraud are accelerating the demand for consolidated, high-assurance fraud and identity adjudication. With LTM SaaS growth of ~20% and strong free cash flow, Mitek is positioned to drive higher quality recurring revenue as the mix shifts towards fraud & identity.

🧭 Summary

Mitek delivers a clean, steady growth profile:

• Sales grow faster every year
• EBIT explodes from 2025
• Margins increase continuously
• FCF remains strong and stable
• ROE improves, but remains conservative
• Balance sheet practically debt-free

This makes Mitek a quality compoundernot a high-risk stock.

🧭 Interpretation for you

• FCF yield 2025-2027 is solid to strongespecially 2025.
• P/E ratio falls every year → Valuation easing + earnings growth.
• PEG 2026 = 0.6× → clear growth value sweet spot.
• No dividend → pure growth compounder.
• P/B ratio not available → MarketScreener does not provide book value data for MITK.

📌 What speaks for strong upside?

✅ EBIT explosion

Margins increase massively → Profit grows faster than sales.

✅ Strong FCF

FCF yield >7 % is a quality feature.

✅ PEG <1

Growth is higher than valuation → Value-Growth-Sweetspot.

✅ Debt free

Increases the probability of a long-term compounder.

Hello everyone,

Today I would like to introduce you to my portfolio. As you probably know, it's just too much fun to expand my portfolio with new stocks. There are now a few too many, but I still can't really part with my worst-performing stocks ($NVM (-6,25%) , $ENPH (+1,77%) , $WAC (-1,58%) ). I'm hoping that I'll be able to sell them in positive territory at some point, or am I on the wrong track and in your opinion should I sell at a loss and try to make up the loss with other stocks?

I have been investing since the end of 2022 and at 29 years old, I still have a long time to go. My strategy is to be as desertified as possible in sectors and to beat the market in the long term (just let me believe that it works :D), hence so many individual stocks. I want to hold these for many years (esp. $AMZN (+4,71%) , $GOOGL (+0%) , $QCOM (-7,5%) , $MSFT (-0,97%) , $V (+0,49%) , $MC (+0,48%) , $SALM (-0,05%) ) but I'm also not too keen to pocket the profits. Are there any stocks in my portfolio that you would view critically for the next few years and would be worth considering selling? Recession and all that...

Priority is on growth, which is reasonably safe, so only a few small caps - but a few bets have to be in there :) ($AIDX (-4,76%) , $NRX (-2,82%) , $ITM (-10,06%) , $F3C (-8,88%) , $MITK (-2,32%) ). But with rather small amounts, probably too small or what do you say?

At the same time, I would also like to claim a €900 allowance via dividends ( $BATS (+0,79%) , $ENB (+0,54%) , $BNPQY (-2,27%) , $STLAM (-1,32%) , $ENGI (-0,83%) , $RIO (+0,71%) ) and secure a trade or two.

Recently I have been investing 240€/m in the $XDWD (-1,13%) and between 200 - 500€/m in individual shares (depending on what is left). Actually, I want to increase the existing shares properly now, but somehow there are always nice entry options in solid companies like $0L2T (-1,81%) , $ZTS (+1,84%) , $ADM (+1,38%) , $PANW (-2,91%) , $ENR (-6,07%) . Help what to do? :D

And then there's also crypto $BTC (+0,92%)
$NEAR (+0,79%)
$ADA (+0,96%)

And Japan, they're doing well too $4063 (-0,83%) , $6501 (-0,6%) , $8001 (+2,77%)

Looking forward to your feedback and advice!

The stock between cyber security and fintech! Value in the small cap sector?

Mitek Systems Inc. is a software as a service (SaaS) provider offering mobile capture and identity verification software solutions for businesses. The company is a computer vision, artificial intelligence and machine learning software development company. It serves more than 7,500 financial services companies and leading market and financial technology brands around the world. Mitek's Mobile Deposit solution is used by consumers for mobile check deposit. The company's Mobile Verify solution verifies a user's identity online and enables businesses to build more secure digital communities, while CheckReader enables financial institutions to automatically extract data from a check image received through any deposit channel - branch, ATM, RDC and mobile. [1] MarketsAndMarkets currently estimates that the global identity verification market is expected to double by 2025 (from over $7.6 billion in 2020 to $15.8 billion in 2025).

"About us" as per homepage:

"Mitek brings the future to business with patented solutions and intuitive technologies that bridge the physical and digital worlds. Our leadership in identity verification, including facial biometrics, image capture technology and ID card verification enables customers to confidently onboard users, verify identities within seconds and strengthen security against cybercrimes. Mitek products power and protect millions of identity evaluations as well as mobile deposits every day, around the world." [2]

Key figures:

-EBIT growth 10 years: 46.54% p.a. [3]

-Sales growth 10 years: 27.85% p.a. [3]

-KGV 2022: 41.8 [4]

-KGV 2023e: 31.5 [4]

-PEG 2022 (P/E/growth rate): 41.8/30% = 1.39 (rule of thumb: < 1 = very favorable)

-PEG 2023: 31,5/30% = 1,05

-->conservative estimate of 30% growth!

-Goodwill: 32.8% of equity; 15% of total assets; 7.9x earnings 2021 [5]

Rubric - What would Buffet say (data from Annual Report 2021 [5]):

Criteria to be read in detail: https://app.getquin.com/activity/XcuRrJwmyP

Income Statement:

-Research and development: 26.8% of gross profit (2021)-->positive! (Buffet's target: max 30-40% of gross profit)

-Sales/Administrative. and other overhead: 18.9% of sales / 21.5% of gross profit (2021)-->positive!

-Gross margin: 87.86% -->positive! (Buffet's target: at least 40%)

-Net margin 2021: 6.7% -->ok! (Buffet's target: >20%)

-Net margin 2022e: 14.4%

-Interest expense: 4.9% of operating profit-->positive (Buffet's target: <15%)

Vermerk: Momentan wird noch viel in Marketingaufwand gesteckt: 26,9% des Umsatzes-->I would expect this to reduce somewhat in the medium term.

Balance Sheet:

-Treasury Shares: 7,773 shares available -->minimal! -->neutral

-Debt < 4xEBIT: (-) -->negative -->where 53% of debt is convertible bonds.

Convertible bonds are bonds with an option. The option gives the purchaser the right to exchange his bond for shares in the issuing company at a fixed price. If the investor does not exercise the option, the bond is repaid at par at the end of the term. [6] If exercised, there is also a risk that this will lead to a dilution in the share price (more shares outstanding lead to dilution).

Peer Group/Competition:

Immersion

-KGV: 14.09

-PEG: 14.09 / 10% = 1.4 -->Growth very difficult to assess, as very inconstant!

Conclusion:

I find Mitek Systems very interesting and have therefore had it on my WL for some time. Even if the key figures suggest it, Mitek is far from being a value company. Revenue in 2021 was just $119 million with a profit of $7.98 million. Over the past few years, however, sales have increased steadily, although 2019 and 2018 still ended with a loss (2017, 2016 and 2015 with a profit). If the forecasts are correct, we see very good growth with consistent profit in the future. Therefore, a P/E ratio in the 30/40 range is anything but expensive. In fact, for a growth company, this seems relatively cheap. Similar to Jack Henry & Accociates.

(Imagination JH: https://app.getquin.com/activity/ClBzvdYgVZ) they could benefit from rising interest rates and loose money at banks. So you don't always have to invest directly with banks to benefit from certain developments. Nevertheless, one should keep an eye on convertible bonds, which could lead to a slight price dilution. I am curious to see how Mitek will develop. Perhaps I will also become weak here at some point. A certain risk in the small-cap area (market cap 2021 approx. 654 million USD) is of course still present.

No investment advice!
