Well, I must have gotten in a day too early yesterday $SPCE (+0%) . That's why I've just doubled the position again. Who could have guessed that they would issue new shares today of all days to redeem their senior bonds.
Virgin Galactic Holdings, Inc (NYSE:SPCE) announced on Tuesday that it will redeem up to USD 30.5 million of its 9.80% First Lien Notes due December 31, 2028. The company intends to redeem the principal amounts originally due on September 30, 2026 and December 31, 2027 by issuing ordinary shares to the bondholders.
According to the company's announcement, the redemption includes the remaining USD 20.4 million of the mandatory amount due on September 30, 2026 and at least USD 10.1 million due on December 31, 2027. Virgin Galactic had already repaid a principal amount of USD 10 million on May 18, 2026.
Repayment is scheduled for June 10, 2026 at par plus accrued and unpaid interest. The exact amount of the bonds redeemed and the number of shares issued will be determined based on the volume-weighted average price of Virgin Galactic's common stock during a five-day observation period. If the share price falls below a specified floor during this period, the company will not redeem the corresponding bond amount, which could result in a total redemption amount of less than USD 30.5 million.
If fully executed, Virgin Galactic would not be required to make any further principal payments on the senior notes until March 31, 2028. The company said the move was part of its capital and cash management strategy as it prepares to commence commercial operations in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The last two weeks at SPCE have been wild. +100% in a week, Reddit going nuts, everyone talking about SpaceX mix-up and short squeeze. I took a closer look.
Virgin Galactic released an official SEC filing (Form 8-K) today.
It states: The company intends to file on June 10, 2026 debt in the amount of ~$30.5 million - not in cash, but in new shares of new shares. The price is calculated using the average price over the next 5 days.
The management literally writes that they see the current market conditions as an "opportunity". Translated: The share price is currently inflated by meme hype, so we'd rather issue shares now than at €2.80.
The result: The higher the price is now, the fewer shares they have to issue. The Reddit community pumps up the price -> and Virgin Galactic uses this directly to reduce debt cheaply. The bondholders will receive their fresh shares on June 10 and will sell them immediately.
Retail is therefore involuntarily financing the debt restructuring of a company without any significant income.
As I posted this afternoon, I took a very speculative position for the Challenge in $SPCE (+0%) for the challenge.
I have also $SKM (-4.55%) bought. 10 shares at 37€. But I can only post the transaction tomorrow because GQ hasn't synchronized it yet.
There has been a change in my challenge portfolio today.
$ENPH (-2.95%) has left this portfolio today. At the end of the day it was up around 38%. However, I had also bought this share in the growth portfolio. It will remain there, as I see even more potential.
I invested part of the proceeds directly in the highly speculative $SPCE (+0%) directly.
50 shares at 7$.
The other two stocks $BB (-8.5%) and $RIOT (-9.13%) will continue to run for the time being.
This morning, I published a post about $SPCE (+0%) and for this reason I would like to show you the alpha factor through ticker confusion.
In today's post by attention economy and algorithmic trading trading, strategies based on the systematic exploitation of human irrationality are gaining in importance. human irrationality based on the systematic exploitation of human irrationality. Instead of relying solely on traditional fundamental data, the identification of market inefficiencies inefficiencies and psychological patterns offers considerable alpha potential. A prime example of this is the upcoming SpaceX IPO:
While the market is looking at the ticker $SPCX ticker, there is a reflexive, erroneous demand for $SPCE (Virgin Galactic) by retail investors and algorithmic bots can be expected - a classic ticker confusion hypeas we have already seen with the legendary Zoom story.
Similar dynamics can be observed with $AI (C3.ai). Due to the perfect ticker designation, the stock acts as a proxy asset for the entire AI sector. Whether through a hypothetical acquisition by OpenAI or through bold political rhetoric, the narrative often beats the balance sheet here.
This means that a thesis can be put forward that, for example, Ahropic could acquire the company $AI (+1.44%) could acquire the company and benefit from an IPO of OpenAI or ChatGPT. They would also benefit, for example, if Trump in press releases suggests a purchase of AI stocks.
This picture is complemented by "ticker arbitrage" with companies such as $LOVE (The Lovesac Company), which is regularly misinterpreted as a "consumer sentiment" during media hypes or irrational buying waves on Valentine's Day. misinterpretation for other consumer narratives.
These theses are highly speculative and require precise timingin order to avoid the temporary mispricing by the market before fundamental reality catches up with sentiment.
Nevertheless, this remains a pure gamble, based on human error. -> This will decrease in the coming years, e.g. due to algorithms....
The current market dynamics in the commercial commercial space sector is reminiscent of the early phases of massive technological upheaval. While the entire sector is currently experiencing vertical momentum a specific constellation around Virgin Galactic ($SPCE (+0%) ) offers an interesting risk-reward gamble for <1 month.
The thesis is primarily based on a classic short squeeze setup. With a short ratio of around 23 % the stock is massively positioned against the short sellers. However, historical market observations show that such set-ups are a specific catalyst catalyst in order to develop their full effect.
Such a trigger is now on the horizon with the upcoming IPO of SpaceX on 12.06.2026 is imminent. In this context, the phenomenon of ticker confusion should not be underestimated as a psychological factor. Financial history provides well-known precedents for this: When Zoom Video (ZM) went public, Zoom Technologies (ZOOM) experienced an irrational rally due to name and ticker similarities. irrational rally of over 1,000 % at times. Similar patterns were observed with Signal Advance (SIGL) and Meta Materials (MMAT), where the media hype and algorithmic misinterpretations triggered massive short-term jumps in share prices. The similarity between the future SpaceX ticker (SPCX) and Virgin Galactic (SPCE) could trigger a comparable, purely narrative-driven demand. narrative-driven wave of demand. could generate a comparable, purely narrative-driven wave of demand.
Fundamentally, Virgin Galactic is still in the cash burn phase. cash burnthe operational progress, in particular the preparations for the Delta spacecraft program program and the accompanying research missions show an increasing professionalization of the business model. While commercial scalability is not envisaged until the fourth quarter of 2026, the short-term focus is on technological validation and strengthening the company's market presence. market presence through the expansion of flight and ground operations.
Virgin Galactic: my first speculative investment and my first loss.))
Could Virgin Galactic benefit from the general attention around possible IPO speculation on SpaceX, or is this ultimately irrelevant for the stock? I'm looking forward to your opinions 🚀 $SPCE (+0%)
