getquin Daily Summary 02.08.2022
Hello getquin,
today there are again exciting quarterly figures! Also, Simens Gamesa lowers outlook and Fiat Chrysler has to pay millions in the US. In the special: Innoviz concludes a contract with VW.
Europe🌍:
1. Siemens Gamesa lowers outlook
Troubled wind power company Siemens Gamesa has been forced to lower its targets, despite previously expecting a significant loss. Releasing its quarterly figures on Tuesday, the German-Spanish turbine maker warned that returns could potentially fall to as low as minus 5.5 percent instead of the previous minus four percent. The return will also be negative in 2023, it said.
Group CEO Jochen Eickholt said, "The situation remains tight, we observe that material costs continue to rise, at the same time we have long-term contracts that were negotiated in 2021 with significantly lower prices." The Siemens Energy division has been making losses for years.

America🌏:
2. Fiat Chrysler pays $300 million in the U.S.
Automaker Fiat Chrysler has been fined yet another time over the controversy surrounding the manipulation of emissions data in the US. A federal judge in Detroit fined the company about $300 million (about 290 million euros) on Monday (local time) for falsifying emissions data.
The manufacturer, now a subsidiary of global automaker Stellantis, had pleaded guilty in June and reached a settlement with the U.S. Justice Department. Fiat Chrysler said the money was covered by provisions at the time. The court has now approved the settlement.
Authorities in the United States had accused the automaker of lying about the emissions levels of just over 100,000 diesel vehicles. The Justice Department had filed charges in 2017.

3. Innoviz concludes contract with VW
Israeli lidar manufacturer Innoviz announced Tuesday that it has signed a contract to supply lidar units and related software for autonomous driving to a division of Volkswagen worth $4 billion over eight years.
Under the contract, Volkswagen will install Innoviz's latest lidar unit and proprietary perception software across its vehicle portfolio.
The contract is for eight years, beginning in the "middle of the decade," when the first Innoviz-equipped Volkswagen Group vehicles are scheduled to be delivered. Innoviz expects to deliver lidar units for between 5 and 8 million Volkswagen Group vehicles during the eight-year term.

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 🏛️
G20 - Global minimum tax to come in 2023. In this, every company that exceeds an annual turnover of 750,000 euros is to pay 15% tax on its profits. The large digital corporations must have a turnover of at least 20 billion euros and generate a pre-tax profit margin of at least 10% to also be affected by the global sales tax. Amazon ($AMZ (+0.26%)) would then be spared its 5% margin, while Apple ($APC (+1.34%)) would be asked to pay. Tax havens would also become less attractive, as the tax burden would not fall on the home countries - as it does now - but on the market countries, i.e. where most of the revenue is generated.
Ryanair ($RY4C (-0.42%)) - The airline has finally been able to report a profit again since the start of the pandemic. In the quarter July to September this year, the profit was 225 million euros. In comparison, Ryanair made a loss of 225.5 million euros in the same quarter last year.
However, a loss of 100 to 200 million euros is expected for the year as a whole, as airline tickets have to be offered at discounts.
𝗖𝗿𝘆𝗽𝘁𝗼 💎
Bitcoin ($BTC-EUR (-1.04%)) - After Bitcoin's strong October 2021 gain, there are eager hopes for an even stronger price increase. Predictions vary between a $50,000 and $100,000. Next month's result could be significantly influenced by the fact that many investors are in a celebratory mood and expect a continued strong increase. On the other hand, a throttling of the markets is expected after an announcement by the Fed.
