The world’s two largest AI companies released new financial results last week—their incredible growth continues to accelerate ahead of their potential initial public offerings.
Anthropic
According to Bloomberg, revenue jumped to over $11.5 billion —an increase of +1,361% year-over-year (from $787 million in the same quarter of the previous year) and +143% compared to Q1 2026 ($4.73 billion), with an adjusted operating profit turning positive for the first time.
At the same time , , according to Reuters, for 2028 a revenue of $190–200 billion —more than four times of the $47 billion run rate in May, prompting bankers to set the targeted IPO valuation at around $2 trillion .
OpenAI
The annualized revenue run rate exceeded, according to Bloomberg, $40 billion — an increase of about +100% YTD compared to the end of 2025 (over $20 billion) and +20% MoM in July alone. The main drivers are the coding business (Codex), subscription sales, and the fledgling advertising business.
To put this in perspective: Anthropics $11.5 billion is a full quarter, while OpenAI’s $40 billion is a run rate—the two may not be calculated the same way and are therefore only partially comparable. Anthropic’s Q2 figures are also preliminary and come from investor documents.
