Trip to Miami, USA

Hi folks, I'm going on a trip to Miami in the USA this year. And before one or two people reach for their keyboards in anger: I initiated the trip a while ago under different global political conditions.

As I want to make the best of it, I would be interested to know if anyone has any ideas of what to see or do on site. Of course you are welcome to write me where I can get the best sandwich or whether the Ocean Drive is worthwhile. But I'm also interested in other things specific to the USA that you can take a look at - and because this isn't a travel portal - I'd also like to know which companies and products etc. you can take a look at that simply aren't available in this country.

I definitely have a visit to Walmart on my to-do list $WMT (-0,06%) and I'd like to take a look at the hyped Chipotle $CMG (+0%) to take a look. I would also like to try a robotaxi from $UBER (+0,1%) or Waymo $GOOGL (+0,33%)
$GOOG (+0,27%) book. I think it's really exciting to actually ride in one of these, which is simply computer-controlled, whereas here in Germany you're only driven around by Malte Sören on a cargo bike. Maybe I'll have a look at $CVS (+0,34%) take a look. As a German, it seems completely bizarre to be able to buy XXL packs of pills without a well-meaning pharmacist giving you a minute-long monologue about how dangerous medication is and that you should try taking it less stressfully first.

I would be in favor of you instigating a regime change 👍

@DonkeyInvestor Then I don't think I'll even be allowed to enter the country. But US politics is unfortunately less dependent on elected representatives than on their loyalty to certain campaign donors anyway.

@Soprano you don't have to specify everything on arrival

I can recommend the Everglades and a rental car down to the Keys.

Bass Pro Shop is also cool. You're welcome to bring an original cap with you. 😎🫶🏻

@paul_finesse_ Is that an Angel store? 😅 I think I heard that there is one in pyramid form, but I think it's somewhere else
••

@Soprano yes is a fishing/outdoor/boots store. There are several stores there. But the biggest one would have to be the Pyramid building in Tennessee as you said

Cool, I haven't been to the other side of the pond yet, but I definitely want to go there one day. Maybe after graduation with friends or something 😎 Have a nice smooth trip... You should definitely take a look at Uber or Waymo, as you say. Maybe also try a Starbux coffee? Well, have fun ;)

@Klein-Anleger Yes, I'm also very excited. Having recently been to the Far East for the first time, Far West is of course a must. But is S-Bucks any different in the States than here? You can find them in all the big cities in Germany, too

@Soprano I don't know if Starbucks is any different there 🤷 I just really like drinking coffee and now during the exam phase especially a lot, Starbucks somehow tastes the best to me of the ready-made coffees ☕️

Make sure you go to Key West, the drive alone is an experience 😬 and visit the Turtle Hospital in Marathon on the way there. Don't forget the Cheesecake Factory 😅

Are you really "only" in Miami? Florida has a lot more to offer 🙂

@Sansebastian To be precise, I'm also making a little detour to the Bahamas in between. But apart from that, I've already decided against going to Orlando or Tampa due to time constraints, so it's more likely to be the South Florida/Miami region.

So safe Walmart, but I would get those vehicles where the fatties always ride. Then I'd eat some real barbecue and go to a burger joint like the Heart Attack Grill. After that I'd be completely ripped, but satisfied.

I'm going to New York soon and I'm asking myself the same questions.

@rajame So at least as far as the USA Classics are concerned, you can read along :D

Dicks Sporting Goods isn't supposed to be bad either 😀

Kennedy Space Center. SpaceX often launches the Falcon 9 there several times a week

The best sandwich is of course subjective, but for me it's Manolo & Rene Grill (https://share.google/PIdYpo8Lcpd8v4DZs)

Otherwise, as others have already written, definitely drive down the Keys to Key West.
It was the best part of the trip for me.

And treat yourself to a few days in the Bahamas. The ships from Miami seem to leave every hour.

Ocean Drive is particularly worthwhile in the evening/at night.

Edit: and yes, $CVS is awesome. I got sick during my stay and was able to buy a cough syrup there between cookies and Corona beer that would fall under the BTMG in Germany.

@M0nty Hahahaha fantastic. The cough syrup thing still works! 😭 Bahamas is actually already booked as a short trip. 👍🏼

I would definitely recommend the following if you’re going to Miami:

1.Take a trip down to Key West

2. Consider a cruise to the Caribbean islands if you have the time.

3. Try out Lock & Load Miami.

And a helicopter tour over Miami Beach, definitely worth lt💪

Have a great trip, i am sure you will enjoy Miami/Florida.

Politics != population. Enjoy your stay, the TSA is currently very relaxed. If I were you, I would take a car and drive around and take in what really interests you. Tampa is an exciting region, as are the Keys and the southern tip with its space attractions there

Please rent a car and drive around Florida miami - Kennedy Space center (unexpected nice!) - Orlando (pick a parc) - Gulf coast (white powder sands!) - Naples - everglades (take a powerboat tour) - Key West (great roadtrip) - back to Miami. Don’t stay on one place!

Dolphin Mall mega for shopping. News Cafe (truffle fries are my tip, among others) on Ocean Drive. Saving tip: always look out for happy hour on Ocean Drive.
One day I would drive over to Keywest.
Sure, Everglades with a hover. If you want to take photos for Insta, this artists' quarter is really cool with the graffiti (bus tour). You can also do a bus tour with this double-decker bus and get on and off everywhere, which is also pretty cool because you can see everything. Little Havana is also great, can be combined well with the bus tour and then a few mojitos at happy hour. We always took a cruise to the Caribbean from there with MSC, which is also relatively cheap, at least cheaper than living in Miami.

The last time I was in Florida was in 1992. Certainly won't help you now. 😆

@Olli68 I wasn't actually born yet 🤣

@Soprano Yes. And I was still young and good-looking. 👍

@Soprano But I can tell you what my highlights were back then: Open-air bars in Miami Beach, Key West/Largo, race track in Daytona, Universal Studios in Orlando, gyms in Miami Beach, Hooters, Cape Canaveral, Taco Bell, Everglades ...

@Olli68 Well, there's even one or two things there. For example, I hadn't realized that they also have outdoor gyms on the beach. I'll definitely have to check it out. Taco Bell is also great. I've already tried it in Palma de Mallorca.

I'm also flying to New York in the summer. I don't really care who is in power. I love this city and would go back any time. Just do what you feel like doing
