Hello community! 👋
We all see the impressive runs of $NVDA (+0,33%) or $MSFT (+0,26%) . But as someone who deals a lot with IT infrastructure, server virtualization and networks both privately and professionally, I often see a second layer to tech investments that tends to be overlooked.
AI and cloud gaming are not magic - they are hungry resource hogs. Here are my thoughts on why the "background" is just as exciting to me as the front-end players:
1. data centers are the new factory floors 🏭
Every request to ChatGPT and every cloud container needs physical space. Real estate investment trusts (REITs) that specialize in data centers (like $DLR (+0,1%) or $EQIX (+0,02%) ), are for me the physical backbone of the digital world. No server can run without them.
2. energy & cooling ⚡
Anyone who has ever operated a home lab or a powerful server at home knows the problem: heat.
With increasing computing power (AI chips), thermal management is becoming a critical factor. Companies that offer efficient cooling solutions or energy management are often the silent winners.
3. cybersecurity is not an option, but a duty 🛡️
The more connected we become (IoT, smart home, cloud), the bigger the attack surface. Cybersecurity budgets are often the last to be cut in crises. Companies like $PANW (+0,07%) or $CRWD (+0,7%) benefit from the sheer necessity of keeping systems running.
My conclusion:
I love tech stocks, but I try to invest not just in the end product, but in the infrastructure that makes the product possible. This often offers a little more stability when the hype cycle takes a break.
👇 What does your tech mix look like?
Do you focus entirely on the "big players" or do you also have infrastructure stocks or suppliers in your portfolio?
