21It's been a very good week so far... 3 times over 1% price gain....
$HRL (+4,3%) Hormel Foods was the "driver" yesterday. 6 quarters in a row negative.... Steadily increased my position (currently 2500 shares) and believed in the company.... Yesterday's quarterly report, expectations met or exceeded... Price increase per share €2.20...
$UPS (+1,88%) was also able to gain...
Hormel Foods dividend
$HRL (+4,3%) Dividend for 1500 shares have now been increased to 2500 shares...
Not hungry, or what?
I have noticed that shares in food manufacturers are somehow not in demand at all at the moment. Why is that? Consumer staples and food should actually offer a certain degree of resilience in turbulent times, as people always eat regardless of economic growth and the economy. So why is this sector just bobbing around like this?
Here are a few examples:
$ULVR (+3,64%) Unilever, YTD = -9.1% , P/E=18.3, Divi = 4%
$NESN (+2,95%) Nestle, YTD = + 2.4%, P/E=22.4, Divi = 4%
$HRL (+4,3%) Hormel Foods, YTD = -11% , P/E=23.3 , Divi = 5.7%
$GIS (+7,62%) General Mills, YTD = -21.8%, P/E=8.6 , Divi = 6.8%
$KHC (+6,81%) Kraft Heinz, YTD = -3.1% , P/E=negative , Divi = 6.8%
$FLO Flowers Foods, YTD = -20% , P/E=21.81 , Divi = 11.5%
$NOMD (+2,83%) Normad Foods, YTD = -17.2% , P/E=9.8 , Divi = 6.8%
$TBS (+0,35%) Tiger Brands, YTD = -20% , P/E=12 , Divi = 11.4%
I understand that many branded companies are coming under increasing pressure from the discounters' own brands when the economy is bad, but is that really the whole truth?

A good day to continue investing in Hormel
$HRL (+4,3%) meanwhile 2500 shares🙈. I am still convinced of Hormel Foods, the turnaround is coming... High dividend yield, safe for decades!!!!
I have the impression that food manufacturers are not particularly popular on the market at the moment. I just don't know why. People are actually always eating and these companies should actually be a good choice, especially in turbulent times. 🤔
Dividend purchased....
$HRL (+4,3%) I believe in Hormel. Hormel Foods is undergoing some changes. The sale of the low-margin areas has been completed. The changes will be felt in a few months....
Noticing something interesting in the market lately
Consumer staples are taking some pretty massive hits.
For example; my position in Hormel Foods $HRL (+4,3%) is down 13.2% in a very short period, which definitely stands out for a sector that’s usually considered defensive. Also names like General Mills $GIS (+7,62%) , Kimberly Clark $KMB (+5,43%) and even Procter & Gamble $PG (+5,82%) are feeling the pressure as well.
Curious how others are looking at this:
Do you see this as a temporary setback for the sector, or are you getting more concerned about a deeper shift here?
