Thyssen sold too late with loss after rally

I had bought TKA before the split with $TKMS to get them allocated. Unfortunately, the allocation was too late for my broker ING to sell at a significant profit immediately after the IPO. Nevertheless, I sold them at the time and kept Thyssen in the hope that the share price would recover. It did, but I wanted more. So I have now sold slightly after the rally. Overall, TKMS is up, but still not the greatest investment.

A quarter of the profits went into $DTE (-1,52%) which I currently see as cheap. Another quarter in $TDIV (+0,31%) and a quarter in $BTC (-0,64%) . The rest remains in cash for the time being.

It was listed on the stock exchange before that—so why didn't you sell after the spin-off and wait another four months?

@Smudeo I still don't get it. I bought Thyssen before the spin-off for just over 12 so that I would receive TKMS shares from the allocation. These weren’t listed on the stock exchange before. Then I wanted to sell the newly received TKMS shares right away, but couldn’t do so immediately at the best price because my broker’s entry was slightly delayed. Thyssen dropped in value right after the spin-off, so selling at cost was never possible after the spin-off. Since then, however, it has made up for it with a rally. And now I’ve just sold it.

@Keineui I just reread your post.
TKMS went public in October 2025.
You had ThyssenKrupp before that!
In February 2026—just a few weeks ago—the price was higher than it is now, when you sold.
My question the other day was:
Why didn’t you sell earlier—months ago, when you still had your cost basis?
Don’t forget that the TKMS allocation is worth + euros for your ThyssenKrupp shares.
So, at a 10:1 ratio, the price back then was effectively reduced by that amount.
Therefore, you didn’t incur a loss.

@Smudeo I bought Thyssen in October for €12.80 before the stock split; the price never reached that level again after that.
And I did say that, taking TKMS into account, I’m in the black overall.
