In response to European restrictions on Russian oil, Moscow could look for new buyers or cut production to keep prices high. If OPEC does not intervene, its actions will have an impact on the global economy.
As part of the EU's sixth package of sanctions against Russia since the invasion of Ukraine, EU leaders agreed on Monday to ban 90% of Russian crude by the end of the year.
In a report on Tuesday, Helima Croft, head of global commodity strategy at RBC Capital Markets, said: "The Russian response will definitely require close monitoring."

It's a sign that the situation is serious when US President Joe Biden and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell meet in the White House. Because they only meet on rare occasions, such as at the inauguration. In the meantime, the Democrat and the Chairman of the Federal Reserve have met three times. Because inflation is now greater than it has been in 40 years: it reached 8.3 percent in April.

On Wednesday, Solana fell more than 12% as the blockchain failed for the second time in less than a month. During last year's crypto boom, investors who had mainly focused on Ethereum began diversifying into Solana and other alternative blockchains.
However, over the past year and a half, there have been repeated outages of the blockchain network, highlighting the disadvantage.

Nate Chastain, the former head of product at OpenSea who left the NFT market after an insider trading scandal in September 2021, is now in the crosshairs of US authorities.
Chastain was charged on Wednesday with wire fraud and money laundering in connection with trading on confidential information about which non-fungible tokens would appear on OpenSea's home page, the Justice Department said in a press release. The two indictments each carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
The Justice Department alleges in the press release that Chastain sold "dozens of NFTs" after he posted them on the website, for two to five times the original price. Chastain concealed his fraud by making these purchases through anonymous digital wallets and anonymous OpenSea user accounts, the Justice Department said.
