1. No more production in Saarlouis
In three years, the Ford plant in Saarlouis will no longer produce cars. This was confirmed by the European subsidiary of the American car manufacturer on Wednesday. The plant in Saarland won out over Valencia in Spain in the internal competition for the future production of the electric vehicles. The current Focus model will continue to be produced in Saarlouis until around mid-2025.

2. Inflation figures United Kingdom
Inflation in the UK hit a new 40-year high of 9.1% in May, up slightly from the previous month. The Office for National Statstics in the UK said on Tuesday that consumer price inflation reached its highest level since 1982, at 9.1%, marginally higher than April´s figure. According to chief economist Grant Fitzner, "the continued modest rise in food prices and record high petrol prices were offset by a year-on-year fall in clothing costs and a reversal in often volatile price of video games."

Fine for Bayer
Yesterday afternoon, the Supreme Court ruled that Bayer, a German phamarceutical company, must pay a $25 million fine due to carcinogens in weed killers. Immediately after the decision was announced, the value of Bayer shares fell by 4.4 %.
