@VanillaGorilla less power consumption for data centers, for example, would make all the mini nuclear power plants and other large power plants built specifically for AI useless.

I can't imagine with the best will in the world that the Chinese have so suddenly overtaken the Americans. Especially because none of the dozens of American start-ups have managed to develop more cost-effective and energy-efficient models. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that Winnie the Pooh has done a bit of wheeling and dealing with tariffs. But these are conspiracy theories.
