There are certainly many opinions. Personally, I have a small investment in Indonesia, as I only do stock picking for EM. $ASII and $BMRI are in my portfolio at Depot🇮🇩
Opinions on $ASII (-0,8%)? Indonesia is an emerging market and I also find the industries interesting - even if there are quite a few different ones. However, there is relatively little news.
The misconception that one invests in a regional ETF or rather "market" and profits from the growing GDP there is widespread. Who wins? Western capital providers and thus the industrialized countries of the leading companies.
I would like to add another emerging market stock to my portfolio. Having already bought Baidu ($9888 (-2,47%) ), Reliance Industries ($RELIANCE ), Infosys ($INFY ), Kaspi kz ($KSPI (+0,39%) ) and Ambev ($ABEV3 ), I would like to add a stock from Indonesia to my basket. I see growth opportunities here in particular due to the forecast population growth.
My eye has fallen on the conglomerate Astra International ($ASII (-0,8%) ), in which the Jardine Matheson ($J36 (-1,5%) ) group is also a shareholder. Their businesses would be a good addition to my portfolio. However, I can hardly find any info on the company online.
Has anyone looked into the company in more detail?
