Blue Owl Capital Corporation (OBDC): First quarter profit and revenue forecasts miss expectations
Blue Owl Capital Corporation reported quarterly earnings of USD 0.31 per share, missing the consensus estimate of USD 0.35 per share.
This quarterly report shows a negative earnings surprise of 10.79%. In the previous quarter, earnings of USD 0.35 per share were expected for this company.
Blue Owl Capital Corporation generated revenue of $396.77 million in the quarter ending March 2026, missing the consensus estimate by 6.22%. In the same quarter of the previous year, revenue amounted to USD 464.65 million.
Share buybacks
On February 17, 2026, the Board of Directors (the "Board") approved a share buyback program in the amount of USD 300 million. The purchases may be made in stock market transactions at the discretion of management. This program replaces the previous authorization of USD 200 million. As of March 31, 2026, the Company repurchased approximately $35 million of OBDC common stock, resulting in an increase in net assets per share in the first quarter.
Dividend distribution:
The Board of Directors has declared a base dividend of USD 0.31 per share for the second quarter of 2026 for shareholders of record on June 30, 2026. The payment will be made no later than July 15, 2026. This adjustment of the base dividend to the current market environment and the future profitability of the portfolio following a prolonged period of declining prime rates and spread narrowing is a consequence of the Board of Directors' decision to adjust the company's base dividend. The regulations on the special dividend remain in place.

Blue Owl Capital Corporation announces financial results as of December 31, 2025
The net asset value ("NAV") per share is USD 14.81, compared to USD 14.89 as of September 30, 2025, mainly due to credit-related write-downs on a small number of shares, partially offset by value-enhancing share buybacks.
New investment commitments for the fourth quarter were USD 684 million and sales and redemptions were USD 1.4 billion, compared to USD 1.3 billion in new investment commitments and USD 797 million in sales and redemptions for the three months ended September 30, 2025.
Investments at risk of default amounted to 2.3% and 1.1% of the portfolio at cost and fair value, respectively, compared to 2.7% and 1.3% at September 30, 2025.
OBDC has repurchased approximately $148 million of its own common stock at a price-to-book ratio of 86%.
The Board of Directors (the "Board") has authorized a new $300 million share repurchase program, replacing the previous authorization of $200 million.
It was announced today that OBDC and certain other Blue Owl BDCs have entered into agreements to sell $1.4 billion of assets to institutional investors, including $400 million of OBDC's assets.
Mr. Packer continued, "Today we announced the sale of $1.4 billion of direct loan participations at book value across three Blue Owl BDCs, including $400 million of OBDC from partial sales of existing portfolio companies. What began as a targeted transaction to raise liquidity for OBDC II shareholders generated significant interest from institutional investors, allowing us to opportunistically expand the sale to OBDC. We expect this transaction to reduce leverage, slightly increase portfolio diversification and create additional capacity to invest in attractive new opportunities for the benefit of OBDC shareholders."
Share buybacks:
On November 4, 2025, the Board of Directors approved a $200 million share repurchase program. Purchases may be made at management's discretion in stock market transactions. As of December 31, 2025, the Company repurchased approximately USD 148 million of OBDC common stock at 86% of the price-to-book ratio, resulting in an increase in net assets per share in the fourth quarter.
On February 18, 2026, the Board of Directors approved a new repurchase program for up to USD 300 million of the company's own ordinary shares, replacing the previous authorization of USD 200 million.
Dividend distribution
The Board of Directors has declared a regular dividend for the first quarter of 2026 of USD 0.37 per share for shareholders of record on March 31, 2026. Payment will be made no later than April 15, 2026.
New BDC wanted 👀 - Ares, Hercules or an insider tip after all?
I plan to further expand my portfolio in the BDC area 📈
My position in Blue Owl Capital $OBDC (+1.76%) is currently fully built up, so no further purchases are planned for the time being.
Main Street Capital $MAIN (+0.71%) remains on my watch list, however, and I will continue to add to the position below €50.
At the same time, I am looking for one or two more BDCs in order to improve diversification in the income sector. The focus remains on stable cash flows, solid balance sheets and sustainable dividends.
My current favorites would be Ares Capital $ARCC (+1.27%) and Hercules Capital $HTGC (+1.44%) 👀
What do you think of these two stocks or would you have any interesting alternatives? 📊
Mainsteet can't get down from its high rating 😅🤔
Ares as well as Hercules actually had good figures and the quarterly figures are fresh .
Blue owl capital
Today a dividend of $OBDC (+1.76%) has been credited to my account.
And the feeling reminds me a little of a quiet beer in the evening.
No cause for celebration, no exuberance. But that one moment when the day is over, the noise quietens down and you realize: everything fits. Dividends have a similar effect. They are not a spectacle, but a sign of reliability. Silent proof that capital works without demanding attention.
Blue Owl Capital stands for a business model with recurring cash flows and a clear structure. That's exactly what I like about it. While markets fluctuate and sentiment shifts, this approach remains calm and predictable. The dividend itself changes little - but the feeling behind it is important: consistency instead of nervousness.
Perhaps it is precisely this calmness that makes the difference in the long term.

Blue Owl
Blue Owl $OWL is benefiting greatly from the ongoing trend towards alternative investments.
The company is growing steadily, increasing its assets under management and paying an attractive dividend. 📈💰
The share price has recently undergone a healthy correction - an opportunity for me to get in at a lower price and benefit from the business model in the long term.
My focus: dividend growth + solid fundamentals.
Exiting my BDC positions
After holding $ARCC (+1.27%) and $OBDC (+1.76%) for 2 years and a half, I’m exiting both positions.
Selling aprox at the buying price but with a porofit aprox 25% thanks to its dividends.
I had better options to do this with higher profit but I didn’t take them as I’m not constantly adjusting my portfolio.
Why now? Well, I don’t see upside, and I think its dividend will go down as well as their profit. And I have in mind increasing positions in other sectors like Pharma and other areas (mainly Europe), to reduce exposure to the US dollar.
Maybe I’ll go back in when there is a market shock and this yield is better, for now I’m out.
Single stock high yield position
As I would like to open a small position … I really can’t choose between $ARCC (+1.27%) and $OBDC (+1.76%) …
What would you choose for high yield and decent price stability ?
Further restructuring
I like the ETF and it really seems to be an option for old age, but through $HTGC (+1.44%)
$OBDC (+1.76%) and $PSA (+1.7%) I already have enough cash flow in my portfolio.
Will be reallocated to the div growth category
