Yesterday I set myself the challenge of completing my tax return using the Taxfix tax software and submitting it to the tax office on the same day. The expected result was EUR 1,613.00. To be honest, I had expected a higher refund in tax year 2024 due to the high tuition fees of around EUR 4,240 and other factors. But as is so often the case in life, the tax office and the tax return surprise us in an amusing way. :-)

Hello getquin community!

I recently came across this platform and signed up straight away to track my portfolio more clearly. For the most part, entering my transactions worked well, but I had to enter some positions manually, especially my gold savings plans (I use the average price to simplify this). Before I share my portfolio with you and look forward to your opinions and suggestions for improvement, I'd like to briefly introduce myself:

My name is Burhan, I'm 29 years old and I come from a town in North Rhine-Westphalia. I work in the insurance industry and am completing two part-time degree courses at the same time (because free time is overrated 😉):

• Business economist for financial services (until January 2025)
• Business administration with three specializations (until April/May 2025).

My way into the world of (small) investors:

I started investing - or rather, trading and chart analysis - when I was 18. Back then, I invested small amounts in leveraged products such as the DAX or WTI oil. Although I made more profits than losses during this time, I learned an important lesson: it is crucial to regularly check take-profit and stop-loss levels in order to avoid capital losses.

However, I only started investing for the long term in 2019. My first step was a savings plan with EUR 25 per month in a fund from Deka ($D6RM (-0.54%) ) - the first dividend I received was a small sense of achievement for me. Later came savings plans for individual shares ($LHA (-0.44%) and $SHA) and commodities ($965515 (-0.13%)) were added. I also used my employer's capital-forming benefits (EUR 40 per month) to further expand my investment in the Deka fund.

My current investment strategy:

Over the last few years, I have tried out and learned a lot and finally developed my personal strategy:

1. basic ETFs:

With the $VHYL (-0.58%) and the $FUSD (-1.38%) I would like to create a stable foundation.

2.
Individual shares:

Here I deliberately focus on non-US companies (with a few exceptions) in order to diversify my portfolio and reduce the US dominance somewhat.

My selection criteria for individual stocks:

• At least 30 % share price growth in the last 5 years.
• At least 10 years dividend history.
• 
  Dividend yield of either:

- approx. 1 %combined with an average dividend increase of 10 % over the last 5 or 10 years, or

- approx. 2,5 %combined with an average dividend increase of 5 % over the last 5 and 10 years respectively.

For example: $MS (-1.6%) / $GGG (-1%) / $CS (+0.45%) / $ASML (-0.72%) / $MUV2 (-0.6%) / $CNQ (-0.99%) / $MC (+0.4%) / $TKA (+0.24%) / $DHL (+0.55%)

3. Gold:

My gold savings plan is still running because diversification is important - and a little sparkle in the portfolio never hurts.

4. Cryptocurrencies:

The proportion is deliberately low and I plan to concentrate only on $BTC (+0.78%) in the future. Everything else will probably be dropped soon.

5. Cash:

Part of my capital is in a call money account so that I can react flexibly to opportunities or unexpected events - who knows when the next dip will come.

The aim of the asset class allocation:

- 37.50 % ETFs

- 37.50 % individual shares

- 10.00 % commodities

- 5.00 % cryptocurrencies

- 10.00 % Cash

In addition, a good deal is currently underway to buy real estate (purpose: rental) - I am still curious.

𝗘𝘅-𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 📅

As of today, among others, Graco Inc ($GGG (-1%)), Alamo Group Inc ($ALG (+0.56%)) and Hormel Foods corp ($HRL (+2.59%)) are trading ex-dividend.

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 🏛️

Tesla ($TSLA (-4.32%)) - Tesla's cyber truck may be delayed again. The Cybertruck, which was unveiled in 2019 with a lot of attention, was originally supposed to be available in 2021, then it was postponed to 2022 and now it disappears completely from Tesla's website. It can only be assumed what the reason for this is, possible reasons would be the chip shortage, the complex design of the truck or simply that Tesla is already not keeping up with the current demand. Elon Musk would like to provide information about this at the quarterly report on 26.01.

The largest German Dax companies are currently buying back their own shares in record amounts. In total, it is about almost 17 billion euros. The sums of share buybacks in Germany were last this high shortly before the financial crisis. Only recently, Adidas ($ADS (-0.81%)) , BASF ($BAS (+1.69%)) and Linde ($LIN ) announced buyback programs in the mid-single-digit billions. Also the Dax newcomer Hello Fresh ($HFG (-0.1%)) also wants to buy back shares worth 250 million euros.

Bitcoin ($BTC (+0.78%)) - A Tesla Model 3 owner told CNBC he has been using his Tesla to mine Bitcoin. By his own account, he earned about $800 a month from it. He ran free bitcoin mining software on his Apple Mac mini M1 and powered his computer through a port in the center of his vehicle's console. In addition to that, he used several GPUs that he connected to his Tesla. He used the car's internal battery as a power source. However, experts doubt the profitability of the project.

Performance One - The digital solution provider is targeting an IPO later this year. 50% of the gross IPO proceeds are to be invested in acquisitions and the other half in product development and general corporate purposes. The company has a lot on its plate and is looking to grow in the digital services space and in the e-health market with its AI-powered online self-help platform couch:now.

Performance One was able to increase its 2020 revenue by 19.2% to 7.8 million euros and, according to the board, create the optimal conditions for growth.

China/USA - US gas to China instead of Europe? According to Handelsblatt, a billion-dollar deal between the U.S. and China could be imminent, and this in the midst of the gas crisis.
