The Fluence Energy share $FLNC (+7.46%) have recently come under considerable pressure. After the Q3 figures, the share price fell by almost 20% and the forecast was lowered - it is clear that many investors are keeping their distance for the time being.

Fluence Energy is a company in the field of energy storage technology and services. It was founded in 2018 as a joint venture between Siemens $SIE (+1.04%) and the AES Corporation $AES (+2.45%) to combine the expertise of both companies in energy storage and develop innovative solutions for integrating renewable energy into power grids.

Energy storage as the key

There can be no energy transition without storage. Wind and solar power must be reliably stored and fed into the grid. Fluence is one of the few specialists in the world that focuses precisely on this.

More than USD 2.5 billion is in the backlog. This is a strong signal that the demand is there. If these projects are implemented, Fluence could be in a much better position from 2026.

Production for scaling

New plants in Houston and Vietnam are intended to help reduce costs and improve margins. Exactly what a growth company needs.

Of course there are risks: competition, thin margins, high expectations on the stock market. But it is clear to me that Fluence is in a market that will only become more important in the coming years.

My impression: in the short term, the share price is shaky - in the long term, Fluence could become one of the winners of the energy transition.

Morgan Stanley expects these companies to benefit greatly from the global trend towards AI integration, whether through leading chips such as NVIDIA, cloud and software solutions such as Amazon, Alphabet or Salesforce, or specialized applications in energy, industry and biotechnology. With tech giants expected to invest almost 400 billion US dollars by 2026, demand in many of these segments could explode. But while the list reads impressively, there is still the intriguing question of who will ultimately benefit not only from the hype, but also from the sustainable use of this technology.

$HPE (+2.06%) trades at 9x earnings, trades below book value, low profitability margins but 4-8% EPS growth expectations

$GMAB (+0.32%) trades at 17 times earnings, about 8 times current Ebitda, seems to have performed well historically (book value is not a good metric, probably has capitalized R&D expenses)

$AES (+2.45%) trades at about 4-5 times earnings, is dedicated to the generation of renewable energy, trades below its current book value for its historical performance does not seem to have done very well, but for its current valuation looks good, has a dividend of about 6% per annum

$CAT (+2.36%) it trades at about 15 times earnings and has had a good historical performance, leader in the production of construction machinery.

Why do you think the market values these companies so low? Do you see growth possibilities or investment opportunities?

I first came across this interesting company through the "Fluence" joint venture for electricity storage etc. between Siemens and AES.

G20 - Global minimum tax to come in 2023. In this, every company that exceeds an annual turnover of 750,000 euros is to pay 15% tax on its profits. The large digital corporations must have a turnover of at least 20 billion euros and generate a pre-tax profit margin of at least 10% to also be affected by the global sales tax. Amazon ($AMZ (+0.84%)) would then be spared its 5% margin, while Apple ($APC (+0.04%)) would be asked to pay. Tax havens would also become less attractive, as the tax burden would not fall on the home countries - as it does now - but on the market countries, i.e. where most of the revenue is generated.

Ryanair ($RY4C (-1.45%)) - The airline has finally been able to report a profit again since the start of the pandemic. In the quarter July to September this year, the profit was 225 million euros. In comparison, Ryanair made a loss of 225.5 million euros in the same quarter last year.

However, a loss of 100 to 200 million euros is expected for the year as a whole, as airline tickets have to be offered at discounts.

This gives an enterprise value of $4.6 billion, valuing Siemens' stake at $1.6 billion. Fluence Energy produces giant lithium-ion batteries that play a major role in renewable energy storage.

VW ($VOW3 (-1.87%)) - Due to shortages of electronic components and semiconductors, VW has to cut back. Despite red figures in the last quarter at Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Skoda and Seat, the group continues to adhere to its annual targets, as the premium brands Porsche and Audi perform comparatively well. Compared with the same period last year, profits from July to September fell 12 percent to 2.8 billion euros. Shiba Inu ($SHIB) - The meme coin has caused a strong stir due to its huge price increase in recent weeks. The coin broke its all-time high again and currently stands at $0.00006743 and a market capitalization of $35.2 billion. For a short time, it even made it to 9th place among the largest cryptocurrencies, overtaking even the legendary Dogecoin. The price of the new meme coin could rise even further as the trading volume could increase even more. The launch of an original $SHIB-NFT series called Shiboshi's could also push the price even higher. These are 10,000 individual pixel images of Shiba-Inus (see image). The cheapest of these NFTs are currently selling on Opensea for the equivalent of $7,480.37.
