Yay! SAP is finally almost back to break-even! 🚀😅

$SAP (-0,68%) has successfully fought its way out of "bagholder" status! I bought in at an average price of 205 at the beginning of the year and, after a wild plunge, was down a good 15k (30%) at one point. Great timing on that entry... 😅

I see SAP trading around €240 in the medium term. The cloud business continues to grow, and AI implementation could increase the software’s value for customers—and consequently drive further revenue.

So, in my view, the stock hasn’t run its course yet, but to the SAP investors here:

Where do you see the fair value? After this SAP roller coaster ride, I’m slowly planning my exit... 😂

SAP was a real highlight for me. I bought in at 135 euros. My thinking was: SAP had been completely unfairly punished because of AI, based on the idea that:

"Anyone can develop products like that on their own now."

I’ve always considered this argument complete nonsense:

1. SAP already has products that it can improve in no time at all with AI. Note: AI isn’t just helpful for new developments, but also for improving existing software.

2. SAP has thousands of customers. A new player on the market can’t just come in, throw in a little AI code, and say: ‘Okay, folks, now go buy from me.’

I think the ‘experts’ haven’t understood a single thing here. AI helps existing software companies more than it hurts them (and please don’t bring up the AI copy of Adobe products: That was clearly not an in-house AI development; instead, the guy told the AI: “Look at the code and recreate it in Rust.” AI is excellent at that. But of course, that’s completely illegal because you’re not developing the algorithms yourself—you’re stealing them. Adobe is going to completely crush that guy. And rightly so, in my opinion.)

The fact that I hit the bottom almost perfectly was pure coincidence. I’d been keeping an eye on SAP, checking the price here and there, and finally thought: Sorry, but it’s so cheap right now, I’m going to put some money into it.

I got lucky there.

@Charmin Congratulations! I guess I jumped to conclusions... I thought 20% of the top was already a lot. I was way off 😂
••
@Charmin That wasn't luck—it was just a well-thought-out move. I also got in at 135, made a little profit, but got out too early. The broader market just didn't see the obvious.

@JohannaMichel-Leitner Thanks for the compliments! I've had my eye on SAP for a while now, with the intention of holding it for the long term. It'll stay in my portfolio for a good few years.

I'm still 16% underwater 🫣

@Solitair I'm keeping my fingers crossed for both of us! 😄

My initial entry was at 235 euros. I thought that was already a good price since the stock had come down from 270 euros... Fat chance. I ended up buying all the way down. The last time, I think, was at 150 or so. A classic beginner’s mistake. That’s why the position got so big… I just figured it had to go back up at some point. 😅

At least I’ve “got my money back” now, but after all that stress, I’d really like to see at least a 20% profit… 😄
