Attention traders! Official Claude.ai Connector for Interactive Brokers☝

$IBKR (-0,58%) The Interactive Brokers Connector recently landed in Claudeʼs official Connector directory as part of a deliberately small, financially focused week.

It remains exciting, the AI integrations are gradually migrating from community / open source MCP servers to official connectors. This means that access is becoming easier and easier, even if you are not an AI freak!

TradingView has recently launched its own AI plug-in, Remix, and now also the official connector from IBKR for Claude🙄😵

I'm not a NeoBroker user, but I'm curious to see which NeoBroker will be the first with AI integration. It will probably only be a matter of time now🤐

⚠️ Important restriction

Since the connector touches real capital, a "human in the loop" is strongly recommended. The most sensible use is: Claude takes over research, analysis and pre-trade considerations. You make the final decision.

📋 Functions at a glance

The connector offers multi-account support, short-selling analysis (available shares, borrow rates, margin requirements), real-time market data (live quotes, historical data, option chains), portfolio management (positions, P&L, account balance) and trading operations such as placing, modifying and canceling orders.

The connector is still of limited use for my day trading, as the latency times are still too high (Claude statement). But it is ideal for all steps before that, as IBKR also offers all technical and fundamental data. Newsfeed, earnings documents, analyst opinions, sentiments, etc... all this data is available at Interactive Brokers.

This is what Claude says:

💡 My recommendation for your day trading

I would use the Connector for your trades:

  • Analyze: Query portfolio status, open positions, P&L live
  • Preparation: Calculate stop-loss and take-profit levels directly
  • Execution: Still via TWS/Mobile - you are faster there

I would not yet trust direct order execution via Claude for day trades with narrow time windows. Too much latency with Beta 4.2!

Very exciting! I have already worked out my strategies with Claude Opus, these connectors take the whole thing to another level.

@Redfox77 I am also quite enthusiastic about Claude. I've been testing a lot with AI over the last few weeks, or actually months. From coding trading scripts, to technical analysis for swing and day trades, to performance analysis and coaching for my sporting interests.
It's brutal how this has developed over the last few months.
With the connectors, everything is now even easier and more efficient. If, for example, all your brokers have a connector, this can quickly become disruptive for portfolio tools.

Just think of my dashboards for my MTB tours, with performance analyses, tour comparisons and targeted training plans. That's where things quickly become tight for established providers 🫪

@TomTurboInvest I also started a bit with training plans, also for mountain biking ;). But I'm still at the very beginning, partly because I've had a long break from training. Do you feed Claude with data from Garmin Connect or similar platforms?

@Redfox77 I have a Polar and load the Fit File of the tour into Claude and have all the data relevant to me displayed on a dashboard plus individual diagrams for speed, watts and heart rate such as min + max HR, incline, watts, watts per kg and the whole thing also temperature-adjusted.
The FIT file has proven to be the best, as you have all the data points tracked by the watch for every second of the tour.
And for the training plans, I enter the exact values I want to improve and then get the weekly plans with the HR zones that I should train on which days plus plans for the corresponding strength training that I need for the MTB. So I no longer need a fitness coach.

Certainly works as a productivity gain, but as an alpha source I'm more skeptical. If at some point all users run the same data through similar models, signal quickly becomes consensus.
It's not worthless. But consensus isn't really information, it's part of the price. If you buy the connector as an edge, you are trading the reaction of other users to the same output. Trends then only start faster and there is less distance for stragglers. And exits become more hectic.

@Yoshika I don't take such a critical view. Institutional traders, who still have the largest volumes, have been working with algos and connectors for decades, and not everything is the same there either.

Even if we all use AI for support, we don't all pounce on the same stocks with the same strategy.

For example, the IBKR Connector to my portfolio with my focus stocks, prompts and strategies will come up with completely different recommendations than if you use the Connector to your portfolio. In my opinion, it helps us to become much more efficient in what we do. But AI doesn't have a crystal ball either.

I also don't believe that everyone makes the same trades. My point is rather that information processing itself is increasingly becoming a commodity. Useful for everyone at some point means differentiating for no one. That makes everyone more efficient, but not automatically better.

@Yoshika You're certainly right about "not automatically better"! Efficient and effective are still two different things 😅 You can be very efficient, but if you do the wrong thing, it won't help.

As a concrete example, I usually get 2-3 scenarios with entry and exit levels suggested in my day trading tests. But which scenario I actually trade is still my decision, including which stocks I trade. I can get recommendations for any stock, but I can't trade them all😅

But I have to say, trading has become easier for me. You can also get technical analyses in seconds with good explanations. But if someone has no idea about shares and chart analysis, that won't help either.

@Yoshika PS: I also wanted to point out something that may be of interest to silent readers. You don't have to buy the connector, brokers like IBKR provide it for Claude, i.e. if you have an account with IBKR and Claude, you can activate the connector and communicate with IKBR via Claude and access the data and your securities account at IBKR.

There are already 418 tool connectors to Claude. From Microsoft365 to Gmail, Spotify to Uber, with which you can then simply control the apps via prompts.
