Diageo first purchase

First small tranche of Diageo in the depot!

What kind of person doesn't like to sit down in the evening and drink a glass of Johnnie!

Apart from that, tobacco is like $BATS (-2,07%) already high, then follows soon $DGE (-1,67%) :)

@Sansebastian yes, then you have a strange taste. You don't need to worry. It's okay to be weird.

@Sansebastian maybe you like it when you get to know it better?

@DonkeyInvestor not even then. Not in the mood to drink alcohol "every" evening

@Wojtek then you really wonder which one of us is weird

@Sansebastian Who said anything about every evening? Yes, it's okay, stay calm and have a drink.

@Wojtek because of the ""!
I'm quite calm without having had a drink 😉

The Black Label is and remains a solid bank for the price. And what's more, it won't hurt you if someone spills Coke on it. :D

@SSIT Alcohol, drugs and coercion as my advisor says. The oldest and safest businesses in the world.

Where is reasonable growth supposed to come from? I mean, people don't suddenly start binge drinking like crazy.

@Psychedelic_Sunflower to smoke either

@Wojtek yes, right
Young people under 24 hardly drink any alcohol in comparison (less than ever before) and that's a good thing... Nevertheless, the company is interesting in that it is now clearly starting to expand its range into the non-alcoholic segment. In my opinion, this is the only way for Diageo to grow in the medium term. Of course, the proportion of alcohol consumers is significantly higher than that of non-consumers, but sooner or later alcohol will become increasingly unattractive, especially now that the WHO (as with smoking at the time) has classified alcohol as "harmful in any quantity" after an eternally long period of reflection, instead of claiming that alcohol in small quantities is beneficial. For me, "hard" alcohol is only socially acceptable in developed countries in the long term in two variants: 1) as a mixed drink or liqueur - the only form that still has no drop in popularity at Pernod Ricard, for example, e.g. Ramazzotti, Baileys, etc... and 2) as a "stimulant" in very small quantities for the generally older demographic, e.g. single malt/bourbon whisk(e)y. Otherwise, I actually assume that emerging countries will have the largest consumption in future due to the lack of appeal in industrialized nations. Personally, I am holding Diageo, for example, not because of the trend, but despite it, and I expect the n/a business to expand. In other words, the age of the boozer is probably over and it will probably be a couple of generations before we get anywhere near the level of the 80s - if ever. One of the main reasons why I drank alcohol for the last time 13 years ago was the rapidly rising cost. I was a student at the time and a bottle of Jack Daniel's for €7 just wasn't an option. I very much doubt that my children will see it any differently.

@DynasticGrind WHO has less and less to say.
@Wojtek Obviously not. After both the smoking and the alcohol verdict, there was a considerable drop in consumption, from which there has been no "recovery" so far. In addition, public information has been pushed forward in recent times, which in the age of information bulimia is not always taken to heart, but is spread very quickly. I don't want to underestimate that.
Worked there and have no shares. Should say it all. Alcohol is a displacement market and not a growth market.

Fags and alcohol don't go into my body, only into the depot, but I sold a larger position at $BATS today at 50.20 a piece, I don't know if it's too early but nobody wanted it at 25 euros and the chart says a correction is probably just around the corner.
