Do you already know Fortum?


Fortum is a Finnish energy company with operations in more than 40 countries. Together with its subsidiary Uniper, it is the third largest producer of CO2-free electricity in Europe.


The common goal of Fortum and Uniper is to advance the business areas of hydropower and physical trading, wind and solar energy, as well as the development of hydrogen capacity throughout the hydrogen value chain.


Both companies see enormous cooperation advantages in a wide range of business activities.

One small fly in the ointment is that Fortum operates nuclear power plants. Here, too, CO2-neutral energy is produced. Unfortunately, however, radioactive waste is also produced.

In Finland, the withholding tax on dividends is normally 30%. According to the DTA between Finland and Germany, a maximum withholding tax of 15% can be credited on dividends.

@Texasman and @MarcoInvestment In principle, the withholding tax is 30%. However, according to the double taxation agreement, a maximum of 15% can be reclaimed via a corresponding refund form (some brokers also forward the data directly to the foreign tax authority, in which case only 15% is paid directly).
