UBER and NVIDIA plan to introduce robotaxis

$UBER (+2,26%)
$NVDA (-1,6%)

Exciting for the Uber share price 👆

Uber Technologies and Nvidia announced on Monday that they will deploy a fleet of robotaxis powered by Nvidia's autonomous driving software for the ride-hailing network. The collaboration is set to begin in Los Angeles and San Francisco in 2027 and expand to 28 cities worldwide by 2028.

Uber and Nvidia stated that the vehicles will run on the DRIVE Hyperion autonomous vehicle platform along with Alpamayo, an inference-based AI model to handle complex road scenarios.

The rollout will begin with data collection vehicles to train the system for city-specific driving conditions before moving on to driver-monitored launches and eventually fully driverless Level 4 operation.

The companies plan to expand the service to North America, Europe, Australia and Asia as part of a broader push to bring autonomous ride-hailing to market.

The collaboration with Nvidia fits into Uber's strategy of partnering in the autonomous vehicle industry rather than developing its own technologies.

The ride-hailing company has already signed an agreement with electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Group $LCID (+5,59%) and autonomous driving startup Nuro to deploy robotaxis built on Lucid vehicles and powered by Nuro's self-driving software on the Uber network.

An acquaintance of mine works at Lucid
The production figures in Forencast look bad.
Many employees laid off, high costs due to location etc.
The only investment left is Nvidia

@Smudeo Uber alone will not be able to carry Lucid, that is clear. Whether Lucid is the best partner in this respect remains to be seen.
But regardless of Lucid, I see Uber in a good position in the robotaxi sector, i.e. it remains an investment for me in my portfolio.
I am not invested in Lucid, nor will I be.

@Smudeo I believe that immediately. But apparently the Lucid Gravity is supposed to be a real stunner

@Smudeo But that's not true. UBER made it into the profit zone in 2023 and has also consolidated this

@TomTurboInvest UBER already made a USD 300 million investment in Lucid for its Robocars more than 5 months ago
