TB JAPAN TAG 🇯🇵 Ibiden: The silent hero of AI chip production from Japan. - Investing in blade suppliers -

$4062 (-3,83%)
$NVDA (-0,01%)

Hello my dears,

Maybe Japan Day will slowly turn into Japan Week.

Maybe also to introduce you to our Japan helper @PikaPika0105 to introduce you.

Anyone who knows me knows that I like to dive deep into the engine room. To look for hidden champions and blade suppliers for you.

While Nvidia can boast an annual performance of 18 %. This important blade supplier shines with an annual performance of 173 %.

That's why I'm a big fan of blade suppliers.

My dears, how many of you actually know Ibiden?

Attention, no investment advice.

Due to the good annual performance, a major correction is also possible with Ibiden.

An alternative would be $6981 (-1,3%) Murata.

Ibiden is a key Japanese supplier to Nvidia, which manufactures highly specialized IC substrates (packaging materials for chips) for Nvidia's AI accelerators, which have to withstand enormous heat. The massive boom in generative AI is leading to strong demand for Ibiden products, which is why the company is massively expanding its production capacity to supply Nvidia and other AI chip manufacturers. Ibiden is considered the leading supplier in this niche market and is benefiting greatly from the AI revolution.

The relationship between Ibiden and Nvidia:

Critical component: Ibiden supplies the substrates that serve as the connection between the actual chip (GPU) and the PCB, which is critical for signal transmission and thermal regulation.

AI boom: Nvidia's success in the AI sector is directly driving demand for Ibiden products.

Technological challenge: Only a few companies can mass-produce the demanding substrates for Nvidia's high-performance AI chips, which secures Ibiden a strong market position.

Ibiden as a company:

Market leader: Ibiden is a leading global supplier of IC substrates for AI servers and has a dominant position in this market segment.

Expansion: The company is investing heavily in new factories (e.g. in Gifu Prefecture) to increase production for AI chips.

Diversification: Although Nvidia is a major customer, Ibiden also supplies other chip manufacturers such as Intel, AMD, Samsung and plans to supply in-house chips for Google and Microsoft.

To summarize, Ibiden is an "unsung hero" of the AI revolution and plays an indispensable role in Nvidia's supply chain by providing the physical base for the powerful AI chips.

Another example of Japan's silent dominance in the chip industry. There are quite a few of these unknown but systemically relevant monopolies. Ibiden's profits are expected to more than double in the next 4-5 years, but the valuation remains high. P/E forecast for 2030 is 17, a setback would not be bad.

@PikaPika0105
Thank you dear, could you perhaps do some more research on the stock split at Ibiden.
And inform us about it in a repost.
I think there could be a buying opportunity after the split.
I'd love your opinion on this.
Thank you ! 😘😘

@Tenbagger2024 I'm always happy to give my opinion, but unfortunately I don't have the time to do this kind of research. However, a split always tends to be good for the share price. SoftBank is also doing one in January. Japanese companies generally like to do this.

I have Japan in my ETF portfolio and am satisfied with the performance. I don't actually hold any individual shares yet.
