ANDOVER, Massachusetts, September 11, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Vicor (NASDAQ: VICR) is acquiring a 334,000-square-foot building on a 66-hectare industrial site in Merrimack, New Hampshire, as well as a separate 54-hectare parcel of land in Hooksett, New Hampshire. The two sites will be used to expand Vicor’s ChiP Fab-2 and Fab-3, which together cover nearly one million square feet. Fab-2 and Fab-3 will expand total capacity beyond that of ChiP Fab-1, which was built on a 320,000-square-foot site on a 16-hectare lot in Andover, Massachusetts. Fab-1’s utilization is approaching its capacity limit.
With its Vertical Power Delivery (VPD) intellectual property, Vicor achieves the performance required for advanced AI applications, which has previously been limited by the constraints of multiphase voltage regulators (VRs) and integrated voltage regulators (IVRs). The expansion of total capacity—with a lead time of one year until the initial commissioning of ChiP Fab 2—provides the necessary scalability to support OEMs and hyperscalers. This expansion addresses gaps in supply chains, which are increasingly burdened by technical limitations and recurring disruptions caused by patent-infringing power supply systems. Leading OEMs and hyperscalers, whose computer systems were barred from import due to patent-infringing power supply providers, require freedom to operate (FTO) and U.S. sourcing options. Vicor’s licensing practice and the future capacity of multiple ChiP fabs ensure predictability and performance within the AI hardware ecosystem.
