Waymo Tesla killer?

$TSLA (+10,24%)
$GOOGL (-1,98%) I read a lot here on getquin that Waymo is supposed to be the Tesla killer, which doesn't really make sense because they don't have Robotaxis yet. But so be it.

How does Waymo plan to scale? Every route has to be mapped and trained in advance. It would take years to cover the whole world or even just the USA.

Waymo uses Jaguar and already drives without a driver in the USA! Tesla needs drivers. Yes, one is IT etc. The other is car boring and 🌟 Link, etc. History Google (Alphabet) to Tesla, share price or profits, etc. speaks for $GOOGL

@Smudeo That doesn't answer my question.

I think mapping shouldn't be a big problem thanks to Google Maps. I've been using it very well for years. It works very well even in traffic jams and the associated time delays.
So what interests me is why Tesla doesn't have to do this around the world

@Multibagger As far as I understand it, Google Maps doesn't really help because Waymo needs 3D and HD maps that Google Maps doesn't offer. That's why every route has to be driven beforehand with special cars so that their system works.

Tesla doesn't have to do that because they rely on cameras and AI instead of geofencing like Waymo. The roads are mapped in real time using neural networks.
@Lvca But real time means that I only notice that the road ends or is closed when the car is in the Rhine.😉😄

@Multibagger Tesla's cameras have a range of vision of up to 300 meters.

@Lvca they're pretty big in my Kia too. But they sometimes fail in bad weather.

Both will have a good solution - it remains to be seen who will scale faster (e.g. through technological advantages and lower prices, higher safety, better driving experience, etc.) and how much market share they will have in 5-10 years.
