Today’s Screen
Today, I’m looking for stocks with > 10% Shareholder yield, FCF yield, and Earnings yield (my personal magic formula) but I’ve also included > 10% Tangible BVPS (5 year) CAGR and a minimum market cap of $500 million for this screen. This combines lots of data into one simple screen covering quality, valuation, and shareholder orientation, while eliminating the smallest companies with skewed numbers.
I like to screen until I’m down to 10-30 stocks, to generate a list of quality companies, trading at fair or below fair prices, to dig deeper into. Here are today’s results:
I currently own Chord and Crocs in different portfolios. Have owned Tri-Point Homes, United Airlines, and Macy’s in the past.
OMV expects sales increase | United Airlines achieves record quarter despite forecasts
OMV takes stock of the past quarter
In the run-up to the publication of the results for the first quarter of 2025 on April 30, OMV is optimistic about the future. The estimates of six analysts show that earnings per share (EPS) will probably amount to EUR 1.52, which corresponds to a pleasing increase of 6.29 percent compared to the previous year's figure of EUR 1.43. Turnover is also on the up: three analysts are forecasting an increase of 7.82 percent to EUR 8.81 billion, compared to EUR 8.17 billion in the same quarter of the previous year. For the full fiscal year, 16 analysts expect earnings per share of EUR 5.52, which is a remarkable development compared to EUR 4.25 in the previous year. Sales are estimated by 12 analysts at EUR 34.94 billion on average, which is also a positive signal compared to EUR 33.98 billion in the previous year. These developments show that OMV is on a stable growth path and that the corporate strategies are bearing fruit.
United Airlines achieves best quarter in five years
In the USA, the airline United Airlines $UAL (+1,88%) published its impressive financial figures for the first quarter of 2025 after the close of trading on April 15, 2025. Despite a challenging macroeconomic environment, United Airlines managed to achieve earnings per share that exceeded expectations. This marks the best start to a financial year in five years and is making investors sit up and take notice. In after-hours trading, the share price climbed by more than 6 percent to USD 71.11. Turnover set new records and underpinned the strong growth of the airline's underlying economy. Despite two forecasts issued due to recession fears, it is clear that United Airlines is well positioned to overcome the challenges and continue to operate successfully. This positive development could be a sign of recovery in the industry, which has been under severe pressure in recent years.
