My car broke down twice due to a faulty battery. As the ADAC didn't have a replacement battery with them, my wife had the car bypassed today and taken to the garage. The invoice for the new battery also listed 0.5 liters of 0W20 oil, although we have been using 5W30 for years. How harmful is it to mix different types of oil? complaint went out.....

0W20 can be mixed with 5W30 without hesitation.
0W20 is used at colder temperatures,

This is also stated in most vehicle manuals, so you will probably get a reference to this with your complaint

Depends on your car. Older engines in particular almost don't care. BUT the Pure Tech engines from Stellantis with the wet timing belt hate 0815 oil. Unfortunately, I drive one myself and wouldn't drive another centimeter after such an action. Have the oil drained immediately and have the timing belt checked. Exactly the same with Eco Boost engines from Ford. Whether there are other engines that are so sensitive, and whether yours is one of them, you really need to google.

Technically, oil behaviour doesn't depend on the car. But just for our understanding, are we talking a tuned 3.7 flat-six Porsche 911, or a 12 year old Kia Picanto? If the first, maybe. If the second, nobody and no engine cares.
