Buy companies that you understand, that are solid, can steadily increase profits, etc.
Then you'll find some that pay a dividend of between 0.5 & 3.5% anyway
They will probably be able to increase this steadily over your lifetime and you will end up with more than just a dividend in the long term, which in the worst case will even be reduced because you bought a share due to a high dividend yield.
