Further regrouping

After many years of holding BP shares, I finally sold them. $BP. (-0,28 %) share.

Lack of perspective, hardly any growth despite annual share buybacks and dividend increases.

Deathblow that meanwhile competition like Shell $SHEL (-0,02 %) and Total Energies $TTE (-0,11 %) want to buy up or take over.

I have taken good dividends over the years and am out with a plus.

In the end, I invested the proceeds in the competitor Shell $SHEL (-0,02 %)

and in the refrigeration and air conditioning technology of Carrier Global $CARR (-0,54 %) refrigeration and air conditioning technology.

I will miss the high dividend (my personal dividend yield has now reached 8%)

But Carrier and Shell are growing very strongly and if Shell were to take over BP after all, the money would end up back there ☝🏻😜

I see much greater opportunities to hold bp shares with a takeover than to sell them, precisely for the reasons you mentioned. As a shareholder, you then have many options. Sell at a higher price or get shares in the acquiring company, etc. The oil price will also rise again and the share buyback program will only pay off in the medium term, so you need patience.
