getquin Daily Summary 04.07.2022
Hello getquin,
how was your weekend? Today in the news we are talking about Easyjet's COO, staff cuts at Henkel and the British Army.
Europe🌍:
1st Easyjet COO relinquishes post
The operations chief of British budget airline Easyjet has resigned from his post in the wake over the numerous flight cancellations. As the airline announced on Monday, Peter Bellew wants to turn to other business opportunities.
Following the pandemic, increased demand has overwhelmed Easyjet and many other companies in the sector. In recent weeks, the company has had to cancel thousands of flights, many of them only on the day of departure. Strikes have also hampered Easyjet's operations. For example, cabin crew in Spain went on strike for a total of nine days between the end of June and the end of July in a dispute over wages and a limit on flight times.

2. Henkel cuts jobs in Germany
Henkel is initially planning to cut 300 jobs in Germany as part of its restructuring program. This was announced by CEO Carsten Knobel in an interview with the "Rheinische Post" newspaper. The Persil manufacturer has not yet commented on the extent of the job cuts in its home market.
Henkel had previously stated that the company plans to cut 2000 jobs worldwide by the end of 2023. The background to this is the restructuring of the consumer goods divisions into the new "Consumer Brands" business unit. Group CEO Knobel wants to merge the struggling Dial and Syoss cosmetics divisions with the more successful Persil and Pril laundry and household care divisions.
