4getquin Daily Summary 11.08.2022
Hello getquin,
today is McDonals, Turkish Airlines and the quarterly figures of Siemens!
Europe🌍:
1. McDonald's starts reopening restaurants in Ukraine
McDonald's Corp. said Thursday that it plans to reopen its restaurants in Ukraine in the coming months. This is the first sign that Western companies are returning to the country, even as the conflict with Russia continues.
The world's largest burger chain had closed all of its restaurants in Ukraine and Russia in March following Moscow's invasion of the Eastern European country.
McDonald's maintained 109 restaurants in Ukraine but did not specify how many would reopen. In May, McDonald's sold most of its 850 restaurants in Russia to one of its local licensees.

2. Turkish Airlines increases profit and flies more passengers than before Corona
Turkish Airlines, a partially state-owned airline in Turkey, has dramatically increased the number of flights it offers while posting higher profits than before. The company reported Thursday in Istanbul a net profit of $576 million for the second quarter. For the first six months of the year, the surplus was $730 million, according to the report.
That makes Turkish Airlines quite profitable compared with rival and Star Alliance partner Lufthansa. With the exception of Swiss subsidiary Swiss, Lufthansa's passenger airlines also posted losses in the second quarter. However, as Lufthansa management noted in early August, demand for airline tickets remains high.

Weekly Thoughts on the Market - Missed Opportunities and FOMO
Everything is not always fun & games with investors and traders. Sometimes things go wrong. Even in the best bull market, there are crap days and frustrating weeks. And all of that can be traced back to one of 2 scenarios that can happen: 1. you lose money or 2. you miss an opportunity to make a lot of ashes.
While the topic of losses is readily and widely discussed, FOMO and missed opportunities are very reluctantly talked about. Why is that? I believe the topic is unfairly frowned upon. FOMO? That is only something for newbies. For day traders. For impulsive gamblers without self-control.
CAN WE PLEASE STOP WITH THIS SNOOTY CRAP?
These are just normal human feelings. Don't lie to me Markus, we all know you wish you had thrown something at Apple in about 2008, or been at Tesla 2-3 years ago. No one admires you when you are supposedly immune to it.
Anyway, I'm writing about this because I happened to wake up early on Thursday, saw Merck's absolutely terrific numbers on Twitter. Good numbers written in prose, not yet arrived on yahoo and other sites, and most importantly, the price on L&S had not yet reacted.
I had heart palpitations, paced nervously all morning, posted on reddit, but then decided against slamming a few tauis into Merck derivatives. It came as it had to: the stock rises 6% after Xetra opens. Well, at least half a dozen people wrote to me on Reddit that they made a tidy profit with the play.
Finally, advertising for Ifaq's DD to Merck: https://www.reddit.com/r/mauerstrassenwetten/comments/p0def8/merck_biotech_hightech_und_ne_bulette_aus_fast/ And a couple of genomics companies that I'm out of in 2020 with good profits but have been doing poorly since the beginning of the year.
ZL;NG: sometimes you miss the boat, sometimes you're on it. Don't hold it against yourself and don't be ashamed of FOMO or feeling like you're missing out. It's human and completely normal! Have a nice Sunday you 😘
