In February 2024, I opened a securities account with Trade Republic and started saving 60 "stable" stocks from the S&5 500 per month with the aim of beating the S&P ETF in the long term. Since May, more than 30 additional stocks have been added and have proven to be an excellent decision so far. Among others $SFM (+2.19%)

There are now over 150 positions and not only 🇺🇸 shares (over 90%) in the portfolio but also a handful from 🇩🇪🇬🇧🇳🇱🇯🇵🇸🇬. They still have to prove their quality, but so far only 🇺🇸 stocks have delivered performance.

9 months since the start, my "ETF" can keep up quite well although the goal of beating the S&P500 has not yet been achieved. But I'm close and in July the gap was somewhat wider.

Conclusion: The popular dividend stocks have not provided performance in the portfolio as $JNJ (+2.5%)

$PEP (+1.54%) The popular growth stocks from the semiconductor sector have not yet been able to prove their quality either. $ASML (+3.19%)

$AMAT (+3.95%) The healthcare sector has also been somewhat disappointing. $ISRG (+1.97%) and $SYK (+1.66%) are positive exceptions here.

The usual suspects, on the other hand, have performed very well, although Microsoft is lagging a little behind. Otherwise, the financial sector and almost all stocks in the industrial sector have performed well so far.

Intuitive Surgical Q3 2024

The Q3 figures from $ISRG (+1.97%) Surgical, Inc. show impressive growth and strategic progress.

The company reported a 17% increase in revenue to $2.04 billion for the third quarter of 2024, compared to $1.74 billion in the same quarter of 2023. This growth was largely driven by an 18% increase in da Vinci surgical volume and a 15% increase in the installed system base, which now totals 9,539 systems.

In the third quarter of 2024, the company placed 379 da Vinci surgical systems, compared to 312 in the previous year, including 110 of the newly launched da Vinci 5 systems. Revenue from system sales amounted to USD 445 million in the quarter, compared to USD 379 million in the previous year.

Intuitive Surgical's GAAP net income for the third quarter of 2024 was $565 million, or $1.56 per diluted share, compared to $416 million, or $1.16 per diluted share, in the third quarter of 2023. On a non-GAAP basis, net income was $669 million, or $1.84 per diluted share, compared to $524 million, or $1.46 per diluted share, in the same period of 2023.

At the end of the third quarter of 2024, ISRG had $8.31 billion in cash, cash equivalents and investments, an increase of $628 million for the quarter.

Negative aspects:

• Increasing share-based compensationThe company's stock-based compensation increased to USD 176 million in the third quarter of 2024, compared to USD 157 million in the prior-year quarter.
• Higher costs: Despite sales growth, the cost of sales also increased, which negatively impacted the gross profit margin.
• Competitive pressureThe company continues to face strong competition in the market for robot-assisted surgery, which could impact future growth.
• Financial risks from leasing modelsThe dependence on operating lease agreements for the placement of the systems could entail financial risks if market conditions change.

Although I have to say that with Exor's $PHIA (+0.84%) share I am already a little bit positioned. It's a shame that they've stopped developing robotics. I would have liked to have seen a 2 $ISRG (+1.97%) seen. Especially as Siemens has invested a lot of human capital in it.

Maybe things will go better with $AFX (-4.37%) better with the robots
