Pfizer ($PFE (+2.63%)) - US-based Pfizer is seeking to acquire pharmaceutical company Arena Pharmaceuticals ($ARNA). Each stockholder is to be offered $100 per Arena share. This would correspond to a transaction sum of 6.7 billion US dollars or 5.9 billion euros. Arena conducts research mainly in the fields of gastroenterology, dermatology and cardiology. Pfizer intends to finance the purchase purely from cash.
E-cars - The German government is extending the purchase premium for electric and hybrid cars until the end of next year. Up to 9000 euros of subsidy will be paid for the purchase of purely electric vehicles and a maximum of 6750 euros for plug-in hybrids.
The only new feature is that e-cars must now be able to demonstrate a positive climate protection effect in order to benefit from the premium.
