@DonkeyInvestor ICP can do what all other "quality" chains can do: Transactions - fast, cheap & secure.
What defines the mile-wide moat around ICP are above all the following properties:

- in contrast to all other chains, large data sets, webpages, software of any kind can be stored and operated on-chain. 1 GB for approx. 5 USD/year. On Ethereum it is about 20000 times more expensive.

- onchain run software/applications are tamperproof and cannot be manipulated, hacked or closed, as is the case with the usual web2services, i.e. Amazon or Google. ICP is the better internet.

- ICP is already a 2nd layer solution for Bitcoin AND Etherum and soon also for ERC-20 tokens with almost zero gasfees.

- Reverse gas model: the user pays nothing. Instead, the developer burns ICP (or cycles) to run the application. Web3 becomes suitable for mainstream users.

As far as decentralization is concerned, it has to be admitted that the goal has not yet been reached, and it can't be in the current development phase. But any comparison with the king of decentralization (BTC) is, of course, very misleading, as these are fundamentally different assets.
