Trade Republic celebrates its 5th anniversary 🥳

Trade Republic recently got its own banking license and I've been wondering ever since when they're going to launch their own bank card and now it seems the time has come.

Here is the link to the waiting list: https://ref.trade.re/kfw0kt11

According to Handelsblatt.com, this is a metal payment card with 1% cashback on spending. This 1% cashback is invested in a savings plan of your choice. In my opinion, this is a very good offer. In addition, a demo organized by Trade Republic is taking place today in Berlin.

Click here for the report on the payment card https://www.handelsblatt.com/finanzen/banken-versicherungen/banken/broker-trade-republic-fuehrt-bezahlkarte-mit-sparbonus-ein/100005114.html

Pretty aggressive marketing. Leaves little room for providers like DKB. The air is also getting thinner for new brokers.

@KleinviehmachtMist I am very curious to see whether other providers such as DKB or Scalable will follow suit. From my point of view, Trade Republic is now clearly ahead

@Noel I'll just throw it out there: ING has been offering cashback on purchases via Dealwise for some time now, at least in the online shopping area. Here you can get up to 15% cashback when shopping online. With the normal payment card, this is of course much simpler and certainly a sensible introduction, but: as explained, similar offers are already available from other direct banks. If anyone would like an ING referral link, please let me know😉.

@Noel 0.5% in front. But still, the 1% cashback is a great number because it retains customers. I think it's an interesting way to change the PFOF model.

@PassiveInvest So I use cashback offers from cashback apps and will then combine this with the 1% cashback from Trade Republic ☺
2
profile image
@Noel Which apps?
profile image
@PassiveInvest Dealwise cashbacks are not really good in 90% of cases. They only give the standard discounts, if you compare different providers you will usually find similar or better offers, e.g. on Amazon etc.

@hejjay this one is really good https://app.shopback.com/e00aiHHfdGb

There's cashback on all sorts of things, even gift cards. For example, there is currently 60% cashback for Temu for new customers and 35% cashback for existing customers. There is even cashback for Amazon and co.
profile image
@Malte123 There is also cashback on Amazon with Dealwise

@hejjay @ag84
In the top right of the app it says "Map" - click on it and you're done

@Alpalaka Now it's there for me too. It wasn't there two minutes ago

@Alpalaka where? Do you have a screenshot? I have a new bubble with Spending on the "Cash" page. There is also a bubble with a card underneath. But there is no button anywhere.
profile image
@hejjay directly on the start page of the app
P.s. I have an iPhone
profile image
@Alpalaka Is probably currently being rolled out. I don't have anything on my iPhone yet either.

@Alpalaka I actually don't have anything there yet.

The account button on the left, portfolio and cash below it (with the third bubble for the expenses) and the graphical development of the portfolio below that.

I also have an iPhone and just updated the app yesterday.
profile image
@Blumentopf I am curious.
profile image
Will certainly be rolled out after many years of membership. I've only been with TR for just under 2 years.
profile image
@hejjay I have been 🤷🏽‍♀️ since December 2022
profile image
@hejjay Now I have it too and have been able to put myself on the waiting list.

@Alpalaka Now it's there for me too

I think it's cool, just added to the waiting list🙌

profile image
@Therapeut I think it's really good too

profile image
By the way, this is not a link to the waiting list, but simply your ref link

profile image
@Alpalaka ah okay. This link was on the waiting list
profile image
Crazy. I remember when I opened my custody account with Trade Republic in 2019 and had to ask for information about the loss pot and exemption order manually by email 😂

App update under Android and then you could be put on the waiting list. Version 2.2401.1

If you invite friends (who are not yet with TR) you will probably move up the waiting list faster

@Fabzy I also have it on the iPhone, but it is not yet displayed.

The question is rather where is the catch :D

@SharkAce saveback is limited to €15 per month
1
profile image
@SharkAce The only "catches" I found:
1. withdraw money only from 100€ free of charge, otherwise 1€
2. physical cards cost 5€ for a plastic card (virtual but available)
3. saveback needs 50€/month savings rate + cap at 15€/month
profile image
@Johannes_J awesome Typ🤝🏽

But I would also have been surprised if you had gotten a metal card for free. I rather assume they will offer 3 models with different limits and digital card/ plastic and metal for X€

15€ is even fair. Assuming there is 1% on everything. Who spends more than 1500€ per month 😂

profile image
@SharkAce According to TR, the mirrorcard costs 50€ once, otherwise the conditions are the same
profile image
@Johannes_J Ah, so actually as usual. Thanks for the information. Where did you find it?
profile image
@SharkAce on the FaQ page of TR. There is an extra section on the map

profile image
@Johannes_J you are good i didn't find the info yesterday

How do you get on the waiting list?
profile image
@ag84 Just updated the app, then the option to be put on the waiting list appeared on the start page. Android.

profile image
@Fabzy iOS is not yet updated.
1
profile image
@DerMartin now it was also displayed for me
profile image
Top. If it supports Apple Pay, it will be taken.

And what would also interest me is whether this only applies to physical or online payments.

Does anyone have any information on the waiting list yet? Yesterday there was only info on Insta about an event in Berlin including a surprise.
profile image
@hejjay Unfortunately I don't know anything about this yet, but if I get any new information I'll let you know ☺
profile image
@hejjay Go to the top right of the app. Android is already updated, iOS is not.
profile image
@hejjay If necessary, Apple Pay takes a detour with Curve
profile image
Try this link. It should actually lead to the waiting list https://ref.trade.re/kfw0kt11
profile image
@Noel This is just a ref link

Wow! I put myself and my girlfriend on the list straight away. Great thing.
profile image
@CMustermann Very much ☺
profile image
Now works too. I'm curious how long the fun will last. Would only use a virtual one for Apple Pay anyway.
profile image
So I have to pay in money in advance every time if I don't have the account regularly deposited with my employer as a beneficiary...!
If you know your expenses in advance, it's quite convenient.

So I leave what comes out of my bank account every month and transfer the rest to Trade Republic? 🤔
profile image
Will people in CH once again be a good deal more envious of the neobroker offer in DE...
profile image
Geil🎉🚀 I am curious about the reaction of other brokers (Scalable Capital....)
profile image
You need to update the app 😊
profile image
@Noel You can decide whether online only or "real" online is free, otherwise from 5 euros.
profile image
Metal card should cost €50 once, the virtual card should be free and the physical plastic card €5 once
profile image
What is so attractive about it now?

I keep my distance. 😊
However, the metal card is the premium model.

I think I'll get the cheap one.
A one-off €5 is ok - I can move a large part of my nest egg and part of my budget for the current month into the 4% clearing account.

The metal card is cool, but it's questionable whether it will last 10 times as long as the plastic card...
