Position building gold

Dear fellow investors,

In the medium term, I would like to take a position in gold $DE000EWG0LD1 (+0.43%) into my portfolio, but I am still put off by the current high prices. With Bitcoin $BTC (+2.82%) I have recently handled it as follows in order to expand my position ... I bought a small position (€500) in increments of 5000 from €80000.

How would you proceed with gold? What increments would seem attractive here? I am curious and thank you very much.

Better take $EWG2, where you have no TER and are actually tax-free after one year.

Otherwise, you can invest near the SMA100, 150 and 200. These are usually good starting points for recoveries.

@Epi Is that also available at TR? Or is it simply self-managed gold? What do you think of the JE00B588CD74 (Physical Swiss Gold) I am also considering investing 10% of my portfolio in gold, even though I prefer Bitcoin.

@MrSchnitzel Always check whether the ETC is tax-exempt after one year. This depends on the physical delivery option and the corresponding classification by the tax office. This must be checked on a case-by-case basis.

@Epi What else I wanted to ask... does a gold mining ETF make sense? Or does it have any risks, do you happen to know that? Or should I just go for the normal gold ETF?

@MrSchnitzel Gold miners are complex. Companies' profits are not only linked to the gold price and prices are not only linked to profits.

If you want to place a leveraged bet on gold, then $LBUL.

PS: I have a goldminerETF because it is the only way to participate in the gold price in the mylife shell.

I would invest in physical gold as an asset reserve and not in securities, not even those with a promise to pay out. But that depends on whether you are only interested in the performance of gold or whether you also want to invest security reserves.

@fbi191 I always wait for the day when the fallout from the third Russian nuclear strike on major German cities has passed and someone in front of me at the bakery wants to pay for his chocolate croissant with Maple Leaf and Krugerrand. I can already see the bakery sales clerk's face vividly in front of me.

@fbi191 Maybe, hopefully not, there will be a devaluation of money like my parents or your grandparents experienced...
You'll be happy if you're a bit more liquid for a few days until the new "money" is in your account.
Unlikely, but it has happened before.
