McDonald's delivers solid results & strong dividend story

attachment

McDonald's has published its quarterly and annual figures for Q4/2025 and once again underlined why the Group is a core investment in the dividend and quality share segment in the long term: In the fourth quarter, global comparable sales rose by 5.7%, in the USA even by 6.8%, underlining the demand in difficult consumer climate phases. At the same time, sales grew by around 10 % to approximately USD 7 billion and adjusted earnings per share increased by 8-10 %.

For the full year 2025, McDonald's achieved net annual sales of just over USD 26.8 billion and earnings per share of just under USD 12 - with a visible increase in sales and earnings compared to the previous year. This proves that the business model remains robust despite the inflationary environment and industry competition.

Top dividend & return of capital to shareholders

McDonald's has once again increased its quarterly cash dividend, most recently to USD 1.86 per share, creating a crisp yield base and emphasizing shareholder value. The Group has been steadily increasing dividend payments for decades and paid out around USD 5.1 billion in dividends in 2025 alone - in addition to the share buyback program.

According to current analyst estimates, the dividend for 2025 is forecast to exceed USD 7 per share, which represents an attractive yield in the current market environment and further strengthens passive income potential.

Strategic arguments for an investment

- McDonald's shows steady sales and profit growth despite economic uncertainties - a testament to the strength of the brand and the franchise model.

- Rising global same-store sales indicate continued customer loyalty.

- Strong cash flow generation enables attractive dividends and capital returns.

- Analysts remain predominantly positive and still see upside potential in the share price.

Consensus price targets:

- Analysts give McDonald's a 12-month average target of around USD 343.6, signaling around ~6-20% upside potential from current prices.

ConclusionMcDonald's combines a stable operating performance, an attractive dividend level and a proven business model that fits into almost any long-term equity strategy. MCD remains an attractive candidate for investors looking for strong cash flow companies with dividend continuity - with the potential to combine current income and asset growth.

No investment advice, this is my personal opinion. It is not intended to encourage anyone to buy or sell.

Why do people actually invest in shares like McDonald's? If I look at the history, the share doesn't even beat the MSCI World, let alone the S&P500. Now, after 10 years of investment, you have in all probability underperformed the MSCI World and can then pay significantly more tax on the profits thanks to the lack of partial exemption.

@monkey_gambler Yes, that's what I think too. I'm sure you were right if there had been no splits in the past. Then today we would have a share price for Sage of, believe it or not
210.000$ 😜

Quote from Prof.DR Hartmut Walz

If you have invested directly in McDonald's in the last 10-20 years, there is a high probability that you will have beaten the MSCI World (after dividends have been taken into account). However, past performance is no guarantee for the future. For most investors, the MSCI World is the lower-risk, diversified choice, while McDonald's is a high-yielding single stock for income investors.

@KoenigsRasse The share (including dividends) has not beaten the world in the last 10 years.

Incidentally, I don't understand the "income investor" concept at all. After all, dividends are nothing more than an outflow of capital, and I can also pay them out of an accumulating ETF as and when I need them and am then not tied either in terms of time or amount.

People invest in supposedly not-so-great stocks just so that they get some kind of dividend in January.

@monkey_gambler due to the stable business model, I would say. So similar to investing in $KO, $COST $ULVR and what they are all called. Not everyone has a 0815 etf portfolio and with these stocks you get relative security or diversification in your portfolio. Some individual stocks are not about beating the market but about cushioning drawdowns and if these defensive stocks then generate 3-5% pa and the overall portfolio stands at 18-22%, everything is fine
