Asian stock markets mixed

The Asian markets are mixed ahead of the upcoming quarterly figures of the major US technology companies. In Japan, the leading Nikkei index rose despite political uncertainty following the ruling party's loss of majority, while the Chinese stock exchanges came under pressure. The Shanghai stock exchange lost 0.6% to 3300.52 points. The index of the most important companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen fell by 0.6% to 3940.23 points. In Tokyo, the Nikkei index, which comprises 225 stocks, rose by 0.7% to 38,872.30 points, while the broader Topix was up 0.9% at 2681.40 points. Positive company figures and price gains on Wall Street supported sentiment. "Share prices have already fallen far enough that there should now be a revaluation," said Kenji Abe from investment bank Daiwa Securities. Technology stocks such as the investor specializing in artificial intelligence $9434 (+1.51%) SoftBank, which specializes in artificial intelligence, rose by 2.2%, the chip tester manufacturer $6857 (-1.69%) Advantest by 1.5%.

The deal is part of a derivatives transaction between the U.S. bank and technology investor Softbank ($3AG1 (+1.51%)). Softbank recently raised 225 million Telekom shares, which it must hold until the end of 2024. Part of this is now being used as collateral in a deal with Goldman Sachs. This does not change Softbank's stake in Telekom.

Oyo - The SoftBank ($3AG1 (+1.51%)) financed, Indian hotel chain is planning an IPO soon. Expectations for the capital increase through the IPO are very high. The plan is to raise nearly $1.2 billion. It said it would use the proceeds from the IPO to settle existing debt and fund growth, which could include mergers and acquisitions. In 2019, the company reported revenue of $951 million and a loss of $335 million. However, a big problem up to now was that anyone could change their profile picture on Twitter into an NFT, even if this person was not the "rightful" owner of the NFT. Twitter now wants to combat this by using a new feature to verify the authenticity of an NFT. NFTs that were actually purchased by the owner of the Twitter account are then marked with a seal accordingly. This increases the usability of NFTs even further and makes it even more attractive for people to invest in them.

𝗕𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗻 - The call center operator and Bertelsmann subsidiary Majorel wants to go public.

The plan is to list on Amsterdam's Euronext stock exchange by the end of 2021. Currently, Bertelsmann and the Saham Group each hold a 50% stake in the company.

According to Bertelsmann CEO Thomas Rabe, Majorel increased revenues by 35% in the first half of 2021. The company operates on five continents and employs approximately 63,000 people in 31 countries.

𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘇 ($ALV (-0.71%))- Europe's largest insurance group cannot rest easy. In the U.S., the SEC and the Department of Justice are already investigating. Now, according to insiders, Bafin has also started investigations.

It is about a dispute between Allianz Global Investors (AGI) and investors of several hedge funds in the USA. The subject of the dispute is severe losses that AGI's "structured alpha funds" experienced during the Corona crash. As a result, investors are suing, seeking to claim losses of up to $6 billion.

According to Handelsblatt, Bafin is now investigating whether executives outside the fund division knew about or were involved in the events that led to the losses.

𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗸𝗼𝗺 - Deutsche Telekom ($DTE (+0.79%)) has increased its stake in the U.S. subsidiary T-Mobile US ($TM5 (+2.34%)) has been increased. The shares are partly acquired by the company itself and partly by Softbank ($3AG1 (+1.51%)). This move brings Deutsche Telekom's stake from 43.2% to 48.4%.

The increase is made in cooperation with Softbank, which in return receives a capital increase of 4.5% in Telekom and now becomes the second-largest shareholder.
