I would be very interested to know what you do for a living?

Does it have anything to do with investing? What advantages do you have over other professions?

I'll start:

Unfortunately, my profession has nothing to do with investing and brings me few advantages!

Former professional boxer and now I teach sports and math.

I occasionally bring old junk to a TV show. It doesn't do much for my invests, although I have a more trained eye at flea markets now. 🦦

@Hannes_SK Do you still need a janitor? With a home office, if possible.

@Der_Dividenden_Monteur Couldn't pay you anywhere near what you're currently earning, even as a service fitter. 👍🏻

profile image
@Hannes_SK that sounds great, is it easier for you to evaluate and analyze companies?
profile image
@Aminmeskini Everything that concerns the "old economy" industry, yes. You know all the process technologies, cost structures and future forecasts, as well as the mechanisms of the raw materials and energy market.
Of course, you are not allowed to trade in such things if you have held such a position. In this respect, there is little to gain from it. Only internal share packages and bonuses offer compensation.

Insurance broker. Advantage: I can organize my own time. Disadvantage: I can organize my own time.
Joking aside: I come into contact with a lot of people from a wide range of professions and social classes. I really like that - because it ensures that you can constantly question your own view of the world and things. You constantly get new food for thought, learn new things and exchange ideas. So I (hopefully) don't get "rusty" so quickly :D
Another advantage for me: I can spend a lot of time on the topic of "investment", which also interests me in my private life.

@lawinvest do you have any advantages that help you invest?
profile image
@lawinvest how long did it take you to make partner ? Salary 500k + ?
profile image
@GreedyA not quite 5 years but with a little thought that I might not be around otherwise...
To the second question: yes
1
profile image
@GreedyA Are you a (prospective) lawyer?
profile image
@lawinvest I was in UB, then a sales engineer and now self-employed. But my girlfriend is a lawyer and works in a GK.

But she has no ambitions to become a partner - which I think is a shame. I would have liked to study law but at 29 the train has left the station and I can't get to 500k :/
profile image
@lawinvest foreign withholding taxes are then a piece of cake, right? :) Hanseatic greetings 🙋🏻‍♂️
profile image
@GreedyA I can certainly understand if you don't want to become a partner. Some people only go there for a few years.
I was on my way to resignation and R1 pay as a judge shortly before becoming a partner...
profile image
@SPAC so I'm perfectly capable of doing it, but I haven't done it yet 😄
1
profile image
@lawinvest So in my opinion, GK is only worthwhile as a partner. But with my girlfriend, family (child) was also a priority. She hasn't decided what to do after her parental leave. Well, just under a million in HHE would have been nice 😅. Now it's probably only half of that
profile image
@lawinvest Question on my part (I'm a law student): What are the starting salaries in a GK by now, there are numbers on the internet and magazines that I almost can't believe😅

@Testo-Investor How can I imagine your job?
profile image
@Testo-Investor a real picture of you?
1
profile image
@Aminmeskini Yes, that's me, who else? The name says it all.... I was joking about the job, of course. I'm a pretty good salesman.
1
profile image
@Testo-Investor but you look really good!!! 😍😍😍
1
profile image
@Aminmeskini thank you ... a lot of work
Over a number of years 👍👍
1
profile image
@Testo-Investor I train for at least 1.30 hours almost every day. But my vision is nowhere near as good as yours!!!
1
profile image
@Aminmeskini not only 5 times a week
1
@Aminmeskini you were also a boxer and not a testo investor
1
profile image
@tanguysgr That's true though, as a professional boxer I trained a lot more, 2-3 times a day for 1.30 hours. But the goal was never to get bigger. I would have to weigh 69.9 kilos for years 🤣
3
profile image
@Aminmeskini that's why you're about 300 times faster and more flexible than me :-)

Studied tax law, but it doesn't help much with capital assets due to the lack of structuring options. At least with my savings rate 😂

profile image
@T1_mo that's very interesting, my wife is also a tax official and doesn't even know most of the key figures!!!
@Aminmeskini Most of them are not even needed because the design is not worthwhile for the majority of people or exceptions do not apply 😂
1
profile image
@T1_mo where, if I may ask? I work in a tax office myself and now want to take the next step towards studying. What are your experiences? And what are you doing now with your degree?
2
@Ernie3486 I studied through the FA and will therefore be working there for the time being. I personally think that studying through the FA is very good because it is very comprehensive. It's not for nothing that many law firms recruit us.
I can definitely recommend the course. Especially if you want to become a tax consultant, because you start with a good basic knowledge.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you much about working as an employee in a tax firm

@alexschober_ But do you know anything about the arms industry? Where do you see potential?
profile image
@Aminmeskini i myself am already very aware of the arms build-up. at the moment it looks like it will continue. if you look at the political situation and the war situation in europe alone, the arms industry will continue to play a major role

I get paid quite a lot for very little work. I hate my job but I don't dare to change.

profile image
@Spiderman You've made me curious, please tell me something more specific. What do you do and what do you get for it? Maybe I'll switch to you 😁
3
profile image
@Aminmeskini In principle, I would have no problem with it, but naming the company and the job would be the end of me working for them. I can't afford that at the moment.
1
profile image
@Spiderman You don't have to name the company, but I can understand it
@Spiderman I know that from the past. It wasn't easy for me to earn less at first, but after just a few weeks I was happier. This was even confirmed to me by people around me.

Hardly any advantages for investors. At most a handful of companies (Gea, Ecolab, Henkel) that are active in the industry and you get a few superficial internal details. But not enough to have an advantage.

Service technician and technical support for precision optics machines in a medium-sized company.
Then I do the same as @Alpalaka on the side
It doesn't really benefit me, as the biggest customers such as Zeiss, Patek Philippe, Rolex and Trumpf are not listed on the stock exchange 😅

Dual student in the field of mechatronics, as part of my studies I am also doing an apprenticeship in this field. I also work in agriculture on a part-time basis. Apart from an above-average income for my age group, which I can invest to a large extent, it doesn't really earn me anything.

Trained as a banker & professional experience in the industry: brings me a lot. But also had disadvantages at the beginning (overconfidence and overestimating my own competence early on).
During 6y. Worked everywhere (construction, gastronomy, event management, electrical engineering, sales, real estate management,...), most recently as a working student in product management at a large German UG in the Smart Infra sector.

The insight into many industries is worth its weight in gold for me personally.

I am a geographer and have nothing to do with investing professionally. I buy expensive bump stocks and sell them at a loss. Still in the black thanks to my ETFs. I don't begrudge anyone their success in investing and look with some envy at people who always seem to have the luckier hand.

Senior civil servant - some of my colleagues have little to do with investing. I actually wanted to become a bank clerk, but my applications were ignored. 😅
Nevertheless, my interest in finance is unbroken and that's how I got into investing.
So I don't see any advantage over others.
As a civil servant, you're safe from "getting poor", but you're also safe from "getting rich". 😁
