$PETR4 (-1,25%) has announced a reduction in diesel prices of R$0.17 per liter. This measure corresponds to a price reduction of 4.6%, which comes into effect today, explained CEO Magda Chambriard on Monday (March 31) at an event at the Petrobras headquarters in downtown Rio de Janeiro.
"Our diesel price is nominally 20.9% lower than in December 2022," said the CEO.
Ms. Chambriard also mentioned that the price of aviation fuel is expected to drop from April 1. "We review the prices every 15 days and adjust them if necessary."
Petrobras last adjusted (increased) diesel prices by 6.28% or R$0.22 per liter in early February, after more than a year of no price changes.
In addition to the company's pricing, diesel also became more expensive due to the increase in the locally levied tax on the movement of goods and services (ICMS). Prior to the price increase in February, the state-owned company had last reduced the cost of diesel by 7.4% at the end of December 2023.
