AeroVironment receives 499 million dollar contract from the US Air Force - share price rises

$AVAV (+6,81%)

Hello my dears,

The acquisition of Blue Hello has broadened the company's base.

And the quarterly figures were convincing.

I remain invested here.

My dears, this is about shielding the emergency services from harmful electromagnetic radiation.

The question arises as to whether this also exists in the Bundeswehr, or whether our soldiers would be exposed to this radiation in an emergency?

Investing.com - Shares of AeroVironment Inc (NASDAQ:AVAV) surged 4% on Wednesday after the defense technology company secured a major ten-year contract from the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) worth $499 million.

The Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract, structured as a single award, is for the High-Performance Electromagnetic Spectrum Survivable Materials Advancement (HELMSSMAN) program. The program aims to develop and provide protective solutions that shield emergency personnel from harmful electromagnetic radiation.

AeroVironment has already been awarded two initial subcontracts under this contract totaling $246 million. The first contract, worth USD 98 million, focuses on the development of protective capabilities in the electromagnetic spectrum to ensure operational readiness. The second contract, worth USD 148 million, covers research into the effects of sources of electromagnetic radiation on US materials and systems and the development of countermeasures.

"As technologies advance and tactics evolve on the battlefield, AV helps forces stay one step ahead of emerging threats," said Wahid Nawabi, Chief Executive Officer of AeroVironment. Work on the program is scheduled to begin this month.

The company's R&D team in Dayton, Ohio, will utilize its expertise in developing hardened materials that protect military personnel, sensors and equipment. AeroVironment will conduct research, testing, evaluation and prototyping to advance vision protection materials and electromagnetic spectrum resilience technologies.

The contract builds on AeroVironment's previous collaboration with AFRL, which included the development of laser-hardened materials and electronic warfare solutions.
