Hello my dears, as promised

Part 2 : Company presentation

HMS takes care of communication in industrial plants

HMS stands for Hardware Meets Software™. By enabling automation devices (hardware) to communicate and exchange information with software and systems, their customers increase their productivity and sustainability.

HMS Networks was founded in 1988 in Halmstad, Sweden, where its headquarters are still located today. HMS products are now used in millions of devices around the world for networking in industrial plants.

Red Lion Controls has been part of the HMS Group since April 2024.

Customers - manufacturers and users

The field of activity is industrial information and communication technology (Industrial ICT). HMS supports both manufacturers of machines and automation devices as well as users and plant operators with various solutions in this area.

  • Manufacturers produce e.g. drives, robots, air conditioning systems, vehicles, emergency power generators or other machines or devices. Manufacturers rely on HMS solutions to network their products. (and yet another exciting company at Robotic @EpsEra )
  • Users are e.g . Plant operators, system integrators or building technicians who use industrial devices. Users rely on HMS solutions to enable communication and information exchange in industrial applications.

Our production philosophy

In our state-of-the-art, customized facilities in Halmstad, Sweden and York, Pennsylvania, we develop and manufacture products that meet the highest demands of our customers.

Surface assembly of components and high volume box builds are performed by subcontractors (EMS) in Eastern Europe and Asia. This flexibility enables us to reliably and efficiently handle both individual orders and large orders with thousands of units.

The HMS production facility in Halmstad is located right next to the development department of the Industrial Network Technology Division.

Prototypes, small series and certain custom-made products are produced here, as well as final assembly and quality control.

At the York plant, HMS manufactures products for the American market, in particular the Red Lion and N-Tron product brands.

The plants in Halmstad and York work closely together and use the same production system.

2020-2024

Creating the "world's largest industrial ICT company"

In 2020, HMS is introducing a new agenda that focuses on three main themes: Planet, People and Growth. With the ambitious goal of becoming "The World's greatest Industrial ICT Company", HMS presented a new playing field and an ambitious agenda for 2025.

During the pandemic years, HMS consolidates but continues to grow as the demand for automation and efficiency increases.

In 2024, HMS announces its largest acquisition to date, Red Lion Controls, based in York, Pennsylvania. Expansion of the organization by another 400 people

2025-

Divisionalization for future growth

In 2025, HMS introduces a new organization with three separate business units: Industrial Data Solutions, Industrial Network Technologies and New Industries, serving different customers.

HMS Technologies The devices of the future will be networked

... And that's exactly what HMS does: connect industrial devices. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) means that industrial hardware such as drives, robots, aggregates, etc. are connected to control systems and the Internet.

This trend towards increasing networking is a perfect fit for HMS, because Hardware Meets Software™ is exactly what HMS has been doing for decades.
