Hold XRP or lock in profits?

I have been holding since around November 2024 $XRP (-1,47%) and have since achieved a nice return. I already realized profits in December, but the position has since grown too large in my portfolio again. That's why I'm now considering how best to proceed.

Should I take some or all of the profit out now and return the amount to my purchase price to minimize the risk?

Or should I follow the motto "A running horse is not slaughtered" and let the profits continue to run?

I look forward to hearing your experiences and opinions - what makes the most sense for you in a situation like this?

Thanks in advance!

@Erkan1980 What makes you think that such goals will be achieved? You should probably sell NOW 😭

@Erkan1980 I respect this attitude, XRP is not my favorite coin, but I can understand it well

@Erkan1980 in 3 months we will be significantly below today's price.

Taking profits is never wrong, but in the current environment I think there is still great potential.

In addition, you are not yet in the 1-year holding period, which is why you still have to factor in taxes on your profits.

I would hold.

In any case, wait. Altcoin Season is loading...

Wait, there is still too much to do. Genius Act, termination of the Ripple vs SEC lawsuit, approval of ETFs and the altseason.

I have been holding for 5 years (EK 0.20 - 0.40 Ct)

In the end, everyone has to know for themselves when and how much to sell, but I'm still holding :)

And you don't need to listen to the naysayers, they already said that €1 wouldn't come 😂🤦🏽

@Sascha2003 At what price would you be a millionaire?
I would have to reach €27.50 🤪

@Sascha2003 The only question is whether you can hold out until then😬

@RealRose That's true. But once you've endured the entire SEC court case, nothing shocks you anymore haha. Endure and then shift nicely into equities at the next low 👌🏼👍🏼

@Sascha2003 Yes, that would be a dream and then we would only work 3 days 😉

@RealRose Sounds like a good plan 🥳👍🏼

@Irlandfan You probably want to refer to Hamlet here.
@Irlandfan I'm in the same boat! I'm looking forward to the recommendations.

Thanks for the post! I am waiting for the same answers.
I would also wait, there is still upside potential 👍🏻

I feel for you. I took out my equity myself in December with some profit.
Things are going up nicely at the moment, I wouldn't have thought so two weeks ago.

I'm letting the profits run. It's fun to watch at the moment, even if it goes down again, I'm taking it a bit easy as it's the profits from last year that are invested.

No one will be able to give you a clear answer that corresponds to the truth. You won't be able to hit the top. If you wait too long, the coins will fall again as they have in every cycle so far. There is no harm in taking profits. However, there is no need to panic, it will not fall 80% from one day to the next. At the moment it still looks good, there is room for improvement.

So I took part of the profit in December, before the holding period expired.
Of course there are taxes, but I accepted that I still made a good return after tax.
I still owned plenty of XRP shares. which are currently performing well.
In the end, you have to decide for yourself what is best.
