The analyst update didn't come out of nowhere. It was in response to data Immunic presented at the ACTRIMS Forum (a major MS convention) over the weekend (Feb. 5-7): The drug: vidofludimus calcium (their lead candidate). The data: In the phase 2 study (CALLIPER), they showed that the drug not only reduces inflammation in the brain, but also reduces the reactivation of the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). This is currently a "hot topic" scientifically, as EBV is considered one of the main triggers for MS. The delay: With small caps, it often takes 1-2 days for such specialist data to be "digested" by the broad market - or for an analyst to translate it into a catchy price target. This is exactly what happened today. The message: The analyst firm H.C. Wainwright has confirmed its buy recommendation ("Buy"). The price target: The analyst (Matthew Caufield) has left the target at USD 8.00.
